2014 "Fishermen" documentary

This is a documentary focusing on the living conditions of fishermen at the bottom of society. According to legend, they were once Vietnamese Chinese and made a living by fishing. When the Sino-Vietnam War broke out in 1979, Vietnam was anti-China and anti-Chinese, forcing a large number of Vietnamese Chinese to flee back to China's coastal areas. Our ancestors have been drifting on the sea for many years, making wooden boats their home. However, in recent years, faced with the problems of frequent typhoon (heavy rain) seasons at sea and the reduction of natural fishery resources, fishermen’s lives have become increasingly difficult.

2015 "Children of the Sea" documentary

"Children of the Sea" records a group of fishermen living in this sea area -The Dan family. The Dan family is a collective name for the water residents along the coast of China. They are also known as the "sea gypsies". Their ancestors have lived and thrived on the sea for generations. They regard the sea as their hometown, wooden boats as their homes, and fishing as their livelihood.

It is said that from the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the Dan family were discriminated against by the aboriginal residents on the shore and were not allowed to live on the mainland, marry with other people on the shore, read or read, or take the imperial examination. There has never been a "Dan family" name. After the Republic of China abolished the unequal policy against the Dan people, more and more Dan people came ashore. However, their original culture was slowly disappearing on the sea.

This film records the living conditions of three generations of the Dan family, Lu Changyi, at sea, and reflects the confusion and hope that social changes and changes in the ecological environment have brought to this "Dan family"... Award-winning record< /p>

Original tracking record, unique Sexy editing, story-like presentation. The value of the director lies in staying away from the current lifestyle and using his unique vision to discover another form of social life that is about to disappear. (Vice Chairman of China Film and Television Arts Association Leng Yefu)

"Children of the Sea" There are always lifestyles in the world that you and I are not familiar with, and there are also some people who always live on the edge, maybe the edge of the land. , maybe the edge of the soul. The film pays attention to such characters in the marginalized world and issues a silent but powerful torture. (Beijing International Student Photography Exhibition Organizing Committee)

"Fishermen" records the "fisherman's life" of a Chinese Vietnamese family who returned to Fangcheng Port, China to settle down due to the war - they make a living by fishing. Food, accommodation, and work are all on the drifting wooden boat. From the perspective of local young people, the director pays attention to the confusion and hope that changes in the ecological environment and social development have brought to this "fisherman" family. The director's technical ability is sufficient to support and express his own inner feelings about the characters and story. The film's processing of music and images is restrained but not enough. It is relatively bland. There should be more possibilities in processing.

For Communication University of China For Tang Guowei, a current student, putting the story of the fishermen in his hometown on the screen and letting more people pay attention to the fishermen was the emotion he poured into "The Fishermen". In "The Fishermen", Tang Guowei used his camera to record the confusion and hope of local fishermen who have been "drifting" for generations in the beautiful Fangchenggang Bay as to whether to go ashore due to changes in the ecological environment and social development.
