Xishuangbanna is between 470 meters and 2429.5 meters above sea level.

Xishuangbanna is located in the south extension of Hengduan Mountains, which is high around the state, low in the middle, high in the northwest and low in the southeast. With the Lancang River as the boundary, it is divided into three geomorphic areas: central, western and eastern.

The vast mountains in the east run through the northeast of Jinghong City and Mengla County, with an altitude of 1000- 1500m. The west is the remnant vein of Nujiang Mountain, which is distributed throughout Menghai County. Except for a few pearl basins and low mountains, most of them are cut mountains, and the altitude of the mountains is between1500-2000 m.

The middle part is eroded by the lower reaches of Lancang River and its tributaries, and cut into many open valley basins, surrounded by open low canyons and mountains, concentrated in the west, south of Jinghong City and south of Mengla County, with relatively gentle terrain, with an altitude of 500- 1000 meters.

Xishuangbanna is located at the southernmost tip of Yunnan, between 2108 ′ ~ 22 36 ′ north latitude and 99 56 ′ ~150 ′ east longitude. It is connected with Laos and Myanmar, and adjacent to Thailand and Vietnam, with a land area of 19582.45.
