Why is the southernmost tip of Chinese mainland named Antarctic Village?

In recent years, Mohe Village in Heilongjiang Province, which is located on the border between China and Russia, has accelerated its tourism construction and changed its name to "China Arctic Village", becoming "the most desirable gold medal tourist destination in China". Experience lies in creativity. "Arctic Village" takes the unique geographical advantage of "northernmost in Chinese mainland" to the extreme: all stations, hotels, restaurants, border rivers and borders are named after "northernmost in China". In front of the northernmost post office in China, tourists often queue up to send postcards.

As a result, Zhanjiang, our province, and even Beihai, Guangxi, have been competing to display the tourist business cards of "the southernmost tip of Chinese mainland" in recent years, but the location orientation of "the southernmost tip" has lost its way due to the lack of clear support from the apex. For more than two years, I insisted on consulting historical and geographical materials, or went to western Guangdong to search hard, just to find the screaming "apex".

Later, in the book Xuwen: South of the Mainland, I was pleasantly surprised to read this passage: "The southernmost tip of the mainland is in Dengjiaolou, Jiaowei Township, xuwen county. It is also known as the "southern three ends" of China land with the ends of the earth in Hainan Island and the goose's nose in Taiwan Province Province Island. I have been to Tianya Haijiao and Luanbi, which have long been famous tourist attractions at home and abroad. Only Xu Wen copulates, so far no one knows the word boudoir!

Recently, a person made a special trip to Jiaowei, and was surprised to find that Jiaowei Township in Xuwen, Zhanjiang is a natural and ready-made "Chinese mainland Antarctic Village"!

Truth and legend

Jiaowei, named after its topography resembling a trumpet extending to the sea, is located in the southwest of xuwen county, 28 kilometers away from the county seat, surrounded by the sea on three sides (Qiongzhou Strait in the east and south and Beibu Gulf in the west). It is found that Jiaowei's unique location advantages, coastal landscape, cultural relics and fisherman's customs constitute the absolute truth and legend of "Chinese mainland Antarctic Village".

Unique location advantage

The "vertex" of the corner tail is the landing angle, with geographical coordinates of 109 55' in east longitude and 2013' in north latitude. Known as "extreme south" and "extreme south" in ancient times, it can be called the southernmost polar region of Chinese mainland. At this point, the name Jiaowei highlights a broader and more vivid meaning: it is a veritable "horn" of the mainland and the "tail" of China!

Magnificent coastal landscape

The sea is the blue South China Sea and the gray-blue Beibu Gulf, which meet and embrace at the corner, forming a magnificent and affectionate spectacle of the two seas. There are two seas in one place, which is rare along the coast of China. It is unique to have this kind of blessing at the corner and tail!

When the waves are strange, they are looming sharp sandbars, which are the dividing line between the South China Sea and the Beibu Gulf. The watershed is unpredictable, and the tidal wind direction will make it different and colorful. Especially during the high tide, the high tide of the two seas forces from different directions at the same time, stirring and flapping each other, forming a rare "cross wave", which is amazing.

Reef is the only coral reef national nature reserve with the largest area and the densest species on the continental shelf of China, with a total area of 143.785 square kilometers, stretching for 37 kilometers. Dense cultural and historical sites

Denglou Corner at the end of Fangpo Village faces Lingao Corner in Chengmai County, Hainan across the sea, and the diagonal distance is only 12 nautical mile. Therefore, Dengloujiao has always been the nearest navigation point to Du Qiong. In the fourth year of Shaosheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 1098), Su Dongpo was exiled to Hainan. So this fishing village is called "Fangpo Village" (meaning that Su Dongpo lived in this village when he was exiled to Hainan). For thousands of years, Fangpo Village has respected sages as teachers, respected morality and attached importance to education, and poems, books, rituals and music still exist. In particular, antique and sturdy houses are made of coral stones, and the external walls are flat and elegant, which looks like a rhythmic structure. In the cracks between rocks, there is often a breeze blowing, which has a quiet charm, so the coral house is known as the "house that can sing poetry".

The ancient lighthouse site and the corner of the Arc de Triomphe in France are named after the lighthouses built since ancient times. According to the China Nautical Notes, as an important navigation aid and geographical symbol of the Maritime Silk Road, the lighthouse built by the Qing government at Jiaowei was named "Guanjiaowei Lighthouse". During the Opium War, foreign invaders got a glimpse of this golden waterway. 1894, the French built lighthouses at Denglou Corner and Lingao Corner respectively, and built seven-bay houses with a width of 20 meters and a depth of 7.4 meters in each place for management and living. 194 1 year, the lighthouse was destroyed during the Japanese occupation of Leizhou Peninsula. The villa was demolished on 1984. At present, the only remaining seven conjoined bluestone arches (also known as the "French Arc de Triomphe") and the remaining broken walls stand quietly, and only the "slowly audible" waves tell the story of the sea and the vicissitudes of history.

On the blue coastline of thousands of miles in Guangdong, it is a red monument that stands tall in the south!

The corner tail of the headland saltworks has been rich in sea salt since the Song Dynasty. Dengjiaolou saltworks covers an area of 536 hectares and is an important salt production base in our province. In addition to using modern machinery to draw water and collect salt, local salt farmers also follow the original production mode that has remained unchanged for thousands of years, relying entirely on the sun to dry, and simply turning the blue waves into "white snow". Therefore, in the headland at the end of the sea, visitors can not only enjoy the whole production process of turning seawater into salt-"the treasure of the country", but also enjoy the endless white salt fields in the salt harvest season, which is the amazing "South China Sea Snow Field"!

The new beacon of reform and opening up is a coincidence. The two existing lighthouses in Dengloujiao are the products of the reform and opening up: the lighthouse built in 1979 was rebuilt on the old site of Baitie Lighthouse built by the navy at the beginning of the People's Republic of China, with a tower height of16m and a stone column tube. 1994, in the centenary of the tower being erected at Dengloujiao, Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration chose the west side of the original site of the ancient lighthouse to build a multifunctional modern new lighthouse while retaining the 1979 lighthouse. The 36.6-meter-high tower and the hexagonal diamond shape symbolize the auspicious blessing of "endless life, much the same". The new lighthouse is equipped with domestic high-brightness intelligent light, all-weather radar transponder and solar energy environmental protection power supply system, which shows the comprehensive national strength of China today. The striking Chinese character "the southernmost tip of Chinese mainland" stands on the huge south wall of the lighthouse facing the sea, becoming the only symbol of the continent's Antarctic prominence. The sun is like a huge column, and the light of civilization shines at night. The new lighthouse is like a "high-altitude" space assistant, enthusiastically guarding the channel, welcoming it, and staying with it day and night. Therefore, people regard the new lighthouse as a symbol of China's reform and opening up.

In the past two years, three new landscapes have been built: wind power tower, coral exhibition hall and diving base. The owner of the wind power tower is a state-owned Guangdong Energy Company. Twenty-seven giant wind power towers stand in a row on the coastline, and the rotating blades stir the sky like giant outstretched arms, which is very modern and has become a must-see for photographers. Coral Pavilion is invested and managed by Guangdong Ocean and Fisheries Bureau, covering an area of 200 mu. The coral specimen exhibition hall completed last year is now open to the public, and the second phase of the coral living exhibition hall is about to be completed; At the same time, the diving training base jointly organized with Guangdong Ocean University has also been launched. Jiaowei is becoming an important marine exploration training and popular science education base, and it will also have the wildest and most modern "Aquarium Grand View Garden" in the southernmost part of Chinese mainland.

Unique fisherman style

The sea is rich in raw seafood, the hot land is rich in good fruits, the years are full of traditional customs, and the trend is coming to western civilization ..... These are all combined into a strange and wonderful symphony with a corner-tailed style!

The original ecology of the corner tail of Changshou village not only refers to the land and sea landscape, but also includes sunny, transparent air and clear water, including simple folk customs and people's physical and mental health. Not long ago, xuwen county was rated as the "hometown of longevity in China". At the end of the corner is Xuwen's famous "hometown of longevity": there are 765 people aged 80-90, 80 people aged 90- 100, and 4 people over 100. That day, I had dinner at the fisherman's house. Into the yard, the trees are full of flowers, and there are two freehand hammocks hanging between jackfruit trunks. The owner's car is parked under the red bean tree, and a pair of puppies are lying next to it. Thank the host for setting a table full of seafood. She greeted me with a smile: "Whatever, home cooking just jumped into the pot from the sea."

The cultural "minefield" may be because it is remote and the inland culture is beyond the reach, but it forces the local culture in Jiaowei to grow strongly. However, in traditional festivals such as Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Duanyang Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, people's carnival that lasted for thousands of years has become a magnificent cultural festival. It is rare that almost every village has a stage or duet stage, playing Lei Ju and singing with Gray. During festivals, drums and cheers thundered, and this hot land of Leizhou Peninsula was like a cultural "minefield" with spring thunder rolling. At the same time, there is a Christian church and six Mazu Tempel in the small corner. Here, eastern and western cultures coexist peacefully, exchange and merge.

The pleasure of catching the sea is along the coast of Guangdong, and the traditional scene of "catching the sea" is becoming less and less due to environmental pollution. But in Jiaowei, catching the sea is still a way of life for people to get food, and it is also a kind of fun to seek wild interests. At dawn that day, I rushed to the scene of catching the sea. On the beach a few kilometers near Dengloujiao, I saw low tide, fishing fire and a big figure. People bend their backs, patrol and stop, turn over small stones from time to time, and quickly put latent snails, fish and shrimp into baskets. Catch up with the sea for two or three hours, you can meet your own consumption, and sell the excess ashore. As a result, the levee became the "skylight market". It is an ancient and strange market rule to sell fish regardless of the weight of the pile and only talk about redemption at full price and not at zero. As you can imagine, if "catching the sea" is included in the tourism project, it will be very popular.
