My ideal career is to be an independent photographer. What skills and qualities do I need?

Let me give you some advice, although I'm not an independent photographer.

I think the existence and development of independent photographers in China is actually very difficult: First, China's copyright awareness is very weak and lacks effective protection; In this way, the pictures or videos you have worked so hard to create are hard to sell at a good price like those in the United States and developed countries.

Secondly, photography is a very expensive thing. In China, many people are not comparing photography techniques, but showing off competing equipment and equipment. This is why many of the latest equipment developed by Japan are sold in China, but the domestic TV stations in Japan are still using the equipment from 10 years ago, and most of our CCTV purchases the latest and best equipment, because it costs national money and is a state-owned enterprise. You want to be an independent photographer. Are you financially independent? Do you have enough financial resources to support you to buy professional and expensive equipment for independent creation?

As an independent photographer, there are two problems: first, in order to create independently, you don't need to make money by serving a customer, but you can get economic income through the huge social impact of your work. The second is to carry out market operation activities (serving the society to make money). And both require you to invest money first. The latter requires the following qualities:

1, it should be well equipped. Because customers will also look at the equipment. What grade of equipment also determines the different levels of your clients and the different prices.

2. Have good technology. Without superb and skilled photography technology, it is difficult to occupy a place in the fierce market competition.

3. Good service. Through good service methods and attitudes, we will leave a good reputation and impression on our customers, which is worth remembering and spreading for you.

4. Good personal relationship. Good at communication and cooperation with people around you and customers. In China, connections are more important than anything else, otherwise you will accomplish nothing.

The biggest difficulty and challenge comes from your own heart. Being picky by customers and not paying attention to economic resources for a long time will seriously dampen your will and make you doubt whether you can continue to persist?
