Introduction to the Golden Rooster Award

The Chinese Film Golden Rooster Award is a film award jointly sponsored by the China Film Association and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. It was founded in 1981. It is an authoritative and professional film award in the film industry in mainland China. Together with the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Taiwan Film Golden Horse Awards, it is known as the "Three Awards for Chinese Films". Together with the China Film Huabiao Award and the Popular Film Hundred Flowers Award, it is also known as the "Three Chinese Film Awards". Together with the Popular Film Hundred Flowers Award, it is collectively known as the "China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival".

The China Film Golden Rooster Awards accepts applications from Chinese-language films that have obtained release licenses in mainland China. The awards committee is composed of experts in the film industry, and the awards are selected through real-name voting by experts.
