Introduction of symbols

On October 15th, at 2 pm, the film Symbol, which was written, directed, performed and photographed by students of Shandong University of Technology, was released in Zibo Cinema, which caused a wide influence on the campus of the University of Technology. This film is the first large-scale action suspense film created by students in Polytechnic University. It lasted for more than 7 months and was created by a main team of more than 3 people, with more than 2 actors covering 5 colleges. The film avoids the romance between men and women, revolves around brotherhood, takes conscience, dreams and friendship as the core ideas, and is created with a lot of suspense elements, attracting nearly a thousand viewers.

After the premiere, Chen Xi, the director, producer and star of the crew, told the story behind Symbol.

Chen Xi said that the origin of Symbol can be traced back to last year's National Day. At that time, I worked as a teaching assistant with Liu Qingqing, a member of the cast (one of the photographers), in Zibo Crazy English Training Camp. Liu Qingqing is mainly responsible for filming Crazy English Training Camp. In a chat, I asked Liu Qingqing to help me take some life records as a souvenir, while Liu Qingqing mentioned that they were about to take part in the Zibo DV short film competition and lacked a good script, so they reached a cooperation.

After the 11th of last year, I created a short suspense script, which is just a fascinating story. Later, Liu Qingqing introduced me to Min Zhilong and Zhuo Zhendong, then presidents of the DV League of College Students, who all expressed great interest in this script. However, due to the club work and unfinished films in hand, they were too busy to concentrate on the production of Symbol, so I was busy with my double-degree course, and Symbol was put on hold.

At the beginning of p>29, I added some ideas from my roommate to Symbol, and rewrote the novel form of the script according to the general script. After school, I found Zhuo Zhendong again to discuss the production of Symbol. Started the continuous improvement of the script. During this period, Wang Bo also participated in it, constantly analyzing and excavating the content, and at the same time reading professional books and analyzing classic films. By constantly improving the structure, logic, character characteristics and central idea of Symbol. A few months later, when we all thought the script was mature, we decided to turn it on!

This summer vacation, everyone agreed to go back to school in early August to focus on filming. Symbol is a work with brotherhood as the main content, and our actors are also roommates and good brothers on weekdays. We stick to it together for the same movie dream. At the beginning of August, the main members of the crew were assembled, but the school completely painted the interior of the dormitory during the holiday. In order to avoid collusion, we had to remake it. In order to pursue a good shooting effect, a shot is often shot more than ten times, and different schedules are tried. Nearly 2 shots are shot in the whole film. Because of fatigue and heat, actors will inevitably have emotions. Because it involves personal privacy, I encountered a lot of resistance when shooting in some dormitory buildings, but the shooting work can only continue after applying to the General Branch of the Communist Youth League and issuing a letter of proof. At the beginning of September, when the school officially opened, about 8% of the film was filmed. Because the actors come from different colleges, majors and classes, the organization of shooting is more difficult. However, after a month of intense filming, the crew finally overcame many difficulties, successfully finished filming and began post-production.

The crew is divided into two sections. Zhuo Zhendong is in charge of the post-production of the film, and I am responsible for publicity, contact with sponsors and other promotional matters. A large number of friends also joined in, participating in ticket design (Xu Lie), web page production (Fu Guanhui), contacting the school lecture hall (Bai Cunzhi), and printing publicity materials (Bai Cunzhi). During this period, Bai Cunzhi and Wang Bo, the current presidents of the DV Alliance for College Students, gave a lot of help in various aspects.

Due to the extremely tight time, Zhuo Zhendong, Min Zhilong and other students in charge of editing worked overtime for five nights during the production process. The sponsors are also full of twists and turns. We decided to expand this activity into the first film festival of Polytechnic University through the screening of Symbol, and after the premiere, we will launch film screening activities with the themes of "Appreciation of Film and Television Art", "Photography Skills" and "Script Analysis". The whole activity will be broadcast live in the form of "webcast" for the first time, covering every dormitory in the school and the whole network of Boda Garden. The scale and form of the activity are the first of its kind in Shandong University of Technology.

"Global Movie City" gave great help and reduced the venue rental fee to 1,5 yuan. In terms of the crew, after more than seven months of production, almost everyone in the crew owes some money to their friends, so the venue cost and publicity cost have become big problems. A company expressed good intentions, but three days before the premiere, it put forward harsh cooperation conditions, which had a great impact on the whole event. In order to make the editing go smoothly, we have to downplay this matter and then try to find a way under pressure. I kept saying to Zhuo Zhendong: Don't worry about cutting films, and I'll guarantee the funds and organization. Then we came to another company to negotiate. After two negotiations, the manager expressed great interest, but just as the poster was about to be printed by the printing house, the merchant proposed not to cooperate temporarily because of insufficient funds. Less than two days before the start of the event, the crew had a deficit of 3, yuan. Finally, President Wang of "Zibo Liyang Crazy English" decided to help us by printing promotional materials and providing some funds to help us realize this dream! This has strengthened our belief in success.

during the post-production and publicity, the main members of the crew only spent more than a week, sleeping for an average of 5 hours every day, overcoming many difficulties, and completed the design, production and printing of posters, the production of publicity web pages, the cooperation and negotiation of sponsors, and the organization of a series of activities.

the biggest problem is that after the venue was agreed, our post-production time has been less than ten days, and the trailers have no ideas at this time. Until the night before we went to the cinema, our film just finished the sequence of shots, with no subtitles, no opening and ending, no soundtrack, and the editing was full of loopholes ... On the last night, Zhuo Zhendong, Wang Chen, Min Zhilong and Liu Qingqing worked overtime with me all night. Wang Chen didn't join our team at the beginning. His skills in all aspects are excellent. Due to the lack of experience in the use of the instrument, there are many noises in the early synchronous recording, which makes it difficult to achieve good results. Wang Chen specially denoises all audio. Liu Qingqing is responsible for color matching, while Min Zhilong and I are responsible for editing subtitles, and I will choose the background music. During the production, I kept negotiating with the studio about the details of the premiere, but for fear that the other party would not cooperate, I kept saying that the film had been cut, and I couldn't urge Zhuo Zhendong to put pressure on him, so I was under great pressure unilaterally. Until noon on the day of the premiere, the subtitles of the film were still not finished, and the ending was not finished. At the end of the film export, three machines collapsed one after another. At this time, I received media and guests at the venue of the film city. Seeing that it's time to start at two o'clock, and the film has not been completed at school, I can't let this news reveal that the pressure is really great in the face of the studio manager, guests, media and the 5 spectators present, and we must keep a low profile ... At half past two, the members in charge of technology unloaded the hard disk of the laboratory computer, took it to the screening hall, unloaded the computer's CD-ROM drive, installed the hard disk, and directly used editing software as a player to play the fragmented and incomplete film. After the screening, although the experts gave a good evaluation and everyone said it was wonderful, I naturally know the real situation of the film. Then there were interviews with various media. As a spokesperson, I tried to introduce our films with a smile, promote our films, and answer one question after another ...

On the bus back, Shan Ge and other leading actors advised me: It's amazing that we have come here, so don't be too sad if we have tried our best, but I still hardly said a word. After I came back, I also accepted a telephone interview with Zibo Radio Station with a smile on my face. At this time, I haven't slept for more than 4 hours, and I only ate two small cakes during the period ... But I can imagine the pressure when I think that the event has been publicized and the venue has been applied for, and I will have to make the premiere of the special session of the Polytechnic University in "Lecture Hall No.3", one of the largest lecture halls in the school, and at present I only have that unfinished film that seems to me to be rubbish. But there is a belief that I planned this activity with my own hands, and I must give you an explanation, and I must never bring my brothers to shame!

At noon, Zhuo Zhendong and I continued to trim the unfinished film. In the evening, when I saw the successful broadcast of this carefully cut film, everyone's approval and expert's approval, and everyone was shocked, the big stone in my heart finally fell to the ground, and then I hugged all my brothers around me one by one! An expert from the TV station told me: I really admire you for being able to complete such a work as a director, screenwriter and starring!

My roommate, Mr. Bin, had tears in his eyes ... because after experiencing yesterday's great loss, we didn't give up at all and continued to finish the film, while other members still insisted on publicity on campus with smiles. This experience was beyond everyone's understanding ...
