Portrait photography skills of dim tea restaurant

Lead: Photographers often say that as long as you have a heart for beauty and a pair of eyes for discovery, ordinary scenes in life are also the source of your creation. The following works were born in the tea restaurant where we eat and drink tea every day. They are too ordinary to be noticed, or the light is dim to be noticed by us, but they can also take creative and bright photos.

First, seriously prepare for the early stage:

Tea restaurant is a place with Hong Kong characteristics, a sense of history and China culture. In such a scene, photography itself is an interesting thing.

But why did you choose the outer model in the whole film? The purpose is to make supermodels collide with each other in China Tea Restaurant due to cultural differences, and express the photography connotation with exaggerated and restrained images. The movements of the whole group of models are domineering and generous (the model clothes are classical, and the white-collar T and green straight skirt are not too casual). Tea restaurant has the characteristics of retro grass roots, which has formed a good visual conflict and a relatively harmonious picture.

However, the creation in a tea restaurant is usually in a dark and difficult environment. How to ensure better products? In the early stage of shooting, we must ensure the quality, the fluidity of photography must be good, the shooting process should be constantly changing, and the mind should keep running.

The kitchen in the shooting environment is more messy than expected, and the flow of people is difficult to control. But remember that there are some lines and surfaces in the chaotic environment, and how to use these lines and surfaces is the key. To combine the pose and expression of the model in the shooting process, the key is how to arrange the model to properly integrate into the environment to express the theme.

Second, the clever use of auxiliary light in low light environment:

How to measure the light and choose a suitable light source in an environment where the light is dim and obviously not dominant? According to the face exposure and the illumination ratio of the background environment, the whole group of films is exposed, and the compromise value is selected for exposure.

The film taken in this way is brighter in tone, so try to focus with a large aperture. The fixed Jiao Da aperture has a large luminous flux, which has great advantages in low light environment.

The reflector is used in the shooting process. The reflector is used here for two purposes, one is to remove unnecessary shadows on the face, the other is to reflect the light source to the model's face with ambient light, and appropriately choose to use the reflector to fill the light for the model.

Third, make good use of special props in characteristic scenes:

Fans, cokes, pineapple bags, birdcages, and telephones, all of which are very distinctive objects in the tea restaurant, can be used properly at the scene. Props are not prepared in advance, but I have built some pictures in my mind before shooting, so that the props are not abrupt to use.

Props only help to strengthen the theme of the whole movie. Personally, I think that portrait photography is mainly based on subtraction, and blind use of props sometimes backfires. When screening, it must be related to the theme.

The above picture was taken with a birdcage hanging on the wall in a tea restaurant. The moral of using a birdcage is that it is still intact in a small tea restaurant. It takes a long time to fiddle with the birdcage. The main adjustment is to let the model frame enter the birdcage, and only fine-tuning can find the best angle. The difficulty lies in how to keep the birdcage. Was robbed? Theme mode, usurping the role of host? It needs patient adjustment to make the combination of the two very appropriate.

Fourth, the final key step is film selection:

How to choose a good work with its own style and theme? The basic principle of personal film selection is mainly to look at expression. Because models sometimes blink, or look bad when moving back and forth, and so on. And then finally choose to value the whole and atmosphere.

In this environment, the light is dim, and continuous shooting is used in almost every film, so it is normal to shoot hundreds of films in the end. But in order to select a good group of photos from hundreds of photos, other films naturally need to be discarded.

Films that are out of focus or have a low shutter will definitely not be selected.

To maintain the consistency of the whole film, of course, it is composition, makeup, later stage, model, clothing and so on. Always used to serving the theme, the picture must have been prepared in my mind in advance. At the same time, expounding from different angles will make the whole richer and more coherent.

Verb (abbreviation of verb) Other important tips:

Before shooting, it is actually the first time that the photographer and the model meet, but the individual pays great attention to mobilizing the model to express his ideal temperament image.

Photographers should learn to explore deeper things in models' temperament and let them express themselves.

The temperament of personal films is not fixed, but they are still partial, quiet, introverted and emotional. Therefore, the model in the whole film did not exaggerate her movements and limbs, but also met my requirements to make a feeling of surging in silence. After communication, she can make a look and a powerful action of raising her head.

Two shots, 35L and 50 1.4, were switched during shooting. 70 200mm.2.8 Because the environment was relatively narrow at that time, 70 200mm could not be opened at all, so it was abandoned. There is also the use of a large aperture of 2.8 because the environment is generally dark, and the weak light environment needs to open a large aperture.
