Suggestions on personal development planning of photographers
Photographer: This is a job that needs continuous investment. If you don't continue to invest in your personal development, you will be stagnant and unable to get promoted. Below, I will share ten suggestions on personal development planning of photographers, hoping to help you!
Evaluate yourself correctly
This is harder than it sounds, because you are trying to compare yourself with many photographers in the world. Many times, I feel that I have reached a certain level. Hey, I did a good job! ? Only to find that the work of an unknown photographer in Romania is far superior to mine! Honest self-evaluation is true humility.
Remember when we were young, we leaned against the kitchen wall and measured our height with a ruler? Do you still remember the joy of growing an inch during a summer vacation? What about the improvement of photography technology? You can feel the inspiration and creativity stretching and growing inside you.
Ask yourself more why.
I can answer such a question for each of my photos. Why did I take this photo?
To be fair, these reasons have changed a lot with the passage of time, especially after I became a photographer. But specifically, the sooner you figure out the reasons for your shooting, the sooner you can achieve your goal and give your work a unique form of expression.
In my career, I have gone through every stage of asking myself. I know that at the stage when I forced myself to shoot, it was only because I had a camera in my hand. I know that when I am forced to film, it is because I feel I have to film, even though I don't like it. In the same way, I know that when I am in good condition and driving in the fast lane of instinct, I will use many skills and subconscious understanding to recharge myself.
Professional photographers often discuss the function of photos, and even presuppose the use of photos when conceiving and creating. For example, if I were there, I might think that this photo could be used for advertising the seminar. That photo is very suitable for an e-book or an article. This information image is suitable for my work display, which one is more suitable for mass media? Wait a minute.
Talent is not innate.
Any field: music, sports, art, academics? Pick out the most famous people in these fields. When they were children, they all played with mud and bit their thumbs. Yes, they are committed to self-improvement and achieved their respective positions in the field, but this is the result of hard work and dedication. We all have the ability to acquire talents in our own way.
Never too old to learn; Endless learning
It is the normal state of life to spend the best childhood in school and work hard when you are in your twenties and thirties. We regard it as a necessary stage to make a living.
When photography becomes a hobby and entertainment, it changes the way we study. Many people just shoot for relaxation on weekends, and there is no pressure from professional photographers. If you are such a person, don't worry, as I always say: learning should be full of fun. ?
Shortcut to improvement
Stay inspired? Let excellent works flood your side. When I made up my mind to seriously consider becoming a better photographer, I went to search for the wonderful photos that attracted me the most. Nowadays, you can find these excellent photos on many online forums. Photos are everywhere, you just need to find the best.
Why are you doing this? Because only Excellence can inspire Excellence, and Excellence will let you set your own standards and goals. With all due respect, if you are surrounded by mediocre works, it will lower your aesthetic standards and make you stand out? Is this good enough? Negative mentality.
Inspiration should be used to find styles that attract you, such as theme, tone and expression. Learning from others is an effective way to improve yourself. We all do this, but I want to advise you that you must develop your own style and work hard as soon as possible, instead of copying others blindly, because being yourself is what everyone is best at.
What is photography?
I believe that a thousand people will give you a thousand answers to this question. The following is my answer.
? Photography is a visual language, and its purpose is to communicate with others. Photography is the voice of a photographer. The clearer the photographer's intention, the easier it is for the audience to understand. ? Just like a real language, the better your eloquence, the easier it is for people who really understand your language to understand. Looking back at the fifth article in the last article, you must find out why you want to shoot. What do I want to express in this photo?
Try to make a second impression.
The world is full of all kinds of photos and images. We can see thousands of photos every day, and each one leaves an impression in our minds.
First impression: Wow! /haha! ? I like/dislike it. (feeling formed in two seconds)
Second impression: Wait, this photo has connotation! (/kloc-feeling between 0/0-30 seconds)
Third impression: This photo changed my view of the world, inspired me, made me want to change, and so on. (From one minute to a lifetime)
If you want to speak, you usually think about what you want to say before you speak, which will save a lot of trouble. When you upload photos to the Internet, you should do the same. What are you still expressing? You just use images instead of words, which is also your expression. Pay attention to your work, pay attention to what you want to express, so that others will pay attention.
Use the language of photography
When you praise a photographic work, try to think about the reasons why you like it. I guess most people will use some adjectives to describe it, gloomy, nostalgic, vivid, quiet, deep, warm-hearted, positive, sad and happy? And so on. Only photographers can describe their photos in some technical language, such as shutter speed, exposure value, aperture, noise, depth of field and so on.
When you shoot, you should focus on those adjectives. If you want to shoot a gloomy work, you'd better make sure that the audience can feel gloomy. Advertising companies have been doing this. They use subconscious information in photos to guide viewers to buy products. This is one of the biggest progress in my work? I have been trying to inject a very clear emotion or feeling into my works. From now on, try to use some key words to describe your work.
Understanding the creative cycle
Many people describe photography as a program, as if photography is linear and the path is set. However, think back to the feeling when learning to drive, especially when learning to drive a manual gear. You have to learn the same things: control the steering wheel, observe the rearview mirror, pay attention to the signal lights, step on the brakes, step on the accelerator, step on the clutch, control the gear, change lanes, and avoid pedestrians and bicycles. Nowadays, you can control the vehicle easily. When you are talking to passengers, children in the back row, or colleagues via Bluetooth, you can drive through your subconscious mind.
So is photography. The trick is to determine what is done subconsciously and what needs to be thought with the brain. I call it the creative cycle because it is a feedback mechanism.
You are unique, because when you look at one of your photos, it will arouse your exclusive memory? It was you who filmed, processed and developed this work at some point. You will understand this feeling when you see the final image. Other viewers can only feel what you present, without the overall perspective of the experiencer. You need to present an unusually clear expression in the photo to resonate with the viewer.
So photography is an emotional bridge between the photographer who is a witness and the viewer who has only indirect feelings.
train
Thirdly, I have seen various methods of photography practice. For me, photography training is: observation? Shoot? expression
You observe what you want to shoot, organize the composition, shoot it and use the computer to make the desired effect. You can pick up a photo and compare it with what you want to express at that moment to judge whether your expression is successful or not. How others feel about your work depends on whether you convey information well at work.
The shooting stage is the most technical, and you should have the ability to control the lens skillfully. Understand the various functions of the camera and know how to master the exposure, so as to take good photos.
