In the process of internship, I think it is memorable for me, or it has a great influence on my understanding of photography, photojournalists, pictures and newspapers. There are several events that may seem simple to others, but this is what I actually realized in my internship, and these things are also worth summarizing.

1. What kind of photos should we choose?

The idea originated from a discussion between the photography department and the editor-in-chief. As we all know, we editors-in-chief are the "bosses" who decide the last edition of articles and pictures. Different from the modifiability of words, photos can only be replaced and cannot be repaired on the original basis, which involves a very important question: what kind of photos do we choose to publish? What kind of photos do we choose to publish in the newspaper?

In fact, this discussion has been discussed by many media practitioners. Even in our fresh practice, there are such doubts. In recent years, the "picture reading era" has been announced by many media, and many newspapers and magazines have also highlighted the proportion of news pictures in their respective media. However, with more photos, the choice of photos becomes a problem.

This discussion during my internship can also be said to revolve around this issue. At the seminar, photographers selected some manuscripts that they sent back to the newspaper, and put the photos they thought they should see in the newspaper together with the photos that actually appeared in the newspaper for everyone to comment. The choice of many of these photos is not only a huge difference between me and the photographer, but also a huge difference in my choice of photos.

Although I didn't speak in this discussion, I learned a lot, and I know most of the things I should pay attention to when choosing photos. And I feel that with the improvement of the photojournalist's level and the quality of news photos, my cognition and evaluation criteria for photos are also rising. In the past, I thought I was a layman in photos, but in fact, they can say that there are countless people who read them, and they have their own unique standards for the selection of news photos.

"News priority" and "picture priority" are a pair of conflicts in this discussion and debate. Many people think that as a news photo, you should have the ability to cover the whole news event and achieve "a picture is worth a thousand words"; And some photographers who think that "picture" should be the first one and I think that since there are already words to explain news events, why can't news photos use some close-up photos with strong visual impact, because these photos can better reflect the photographer's photography skills and level.

In fact, I think the root of this discussion lies in the understanding of news pictures. Not only do photographers need to improve, but I should also change my mind. As a photojournalist, we should use our own technology as much as possible to combine the beauty of the picture with the news, and as me, we should boldly adopt some novel news pictures, let the pictures with good pictures appear on the page, supplemented by words, and even try to match the news pictures with words. This not only helps photographers to take good news photos, but also provides a new solution for the coordination of news photos with words and layout.

In recent years, Xinmin Evening News, New Express and other media have set a banner for domestic media in the use of pictures. They all have their own picture directors, who check and make suggestions on the last edition of pictures, which can be said to greatly promote the integration of aesthetics and news in the use of pictures by their own media.

In the process of internship, there are bitter and sweet. The sweet thing is that I met many friends again. The bitter thing is that we are constantly hiking every day, facing not smooth roads, but tortuous mountainous areas, even foothills, hillsides and hilltops. I still remember the first day when we got on the bus for internship in Linzhou, Anyang with excitement and expectation from school, singing songs all the way and looking forward to the life and scenery in the mountains. We were completely shocked when the car approached the mountain view of Linzhou. Maybe we haven't seen the real mountain view, or maybe we have only seen the magnificent mountain view. We dare not talk nonsense any more, but pour out surprised praise with one voice. Some partners can't help but pick up the camera and sink into the beautiful scenery in the mountains. Approaching again and again, step by step, we finally reached our destination in the words of surprise.

We unloaded the burden of living in the mountains and walked into the farmhouse in the mountains. We have many questions and concerns about small courtyard houses. It's not as gorgeous as we thought, but a quaint and elegant room in the mountain.

We know this is not a paradise or a place to play. As far as our present state is concerned, this internship is simply torture in hell. Only in this way can we experience sketching in the forest for nearly half a month on the premise of preparation. In fact, we will fall in love with this terrible place these days, accept such an elegant natural life for the first time, and actually enjoy it very much. The first day to decide is the end of life, and then the second day to officially step into hiking. Driven by the teacher, we are nervous and active, taking pictures and having fun, but we are very tired. Back to the residence, we were completely discouraged, and the pain all over made us have to be wordy. No one listens to his own nonsense, because everyone feels the same way. When we are eating, we stagger our rice bowls, only then do we realize that society is not easy, and only then do we admit that life needs to be paid in order to be rewarded. There is a famous saying: how can you see a rainbow without experiencing wind and rain? I want to change it now: how can I understand society without really entering it?

Internship has come to an end in nearly half a month's life. Our reluctant eyes finally moved away from the mountain.
