Where did this picture come from?
This portrait is taken from the vivid portrait of Ernesto Guevara taken by the famous photographer Alberto Colda in 1960. After being partially processed by fitzpatrick, it quickly became one of the most famous pictures in the 20th century.
1967 Shortly after Ernesto Guevara's death, out of admiration for his revolutionary ideals and anger at his execution, fitzpatrick created this portrait of Ernesto Guevara based on the photos taken by photographer Alberto Colda for Ernesto Guevara in 1960. But even the creator himself never imagined that this painting later became one of the most widely circulated works of art.
Today, fitzpatrick lives and works in Dublin, Ireland, creating Celtic art and designing album covers for singers such as Sidney O 'Connor and Thin Lizzy.
