How to make a photographic filter?
The self-made photo filter described in this paper will change the color and light source of the picture and produce unusual effects when shooting. In this case, there is no need to buy expensive filtering equipment at any time.
Transparent cellophane
An ordinary cellophane can be an excellent packaging material, because it is the material for making self-made photo filters. There are many different ways to use this material. You can use cellophane to simulate the illumination (light leakage effect) of the lens frame, and then get the color self-made filter for the lens from the cellophane coated with pigment.
Use cellophane in your favorite color. Cut a piece big enough. Fix cellophane on the lens with elastic band, and observe through the viewfinder to ensure that it is completely in the required position.
You can cover the whole lens with cellophane, or you can cover half or a small part of the glass. You can combine cellophane with different colors, and even paste multiple colored strips to get interesting and unique effects in the picture.
Try to use cellophane with different thickness and structure to make it closer or farther away from the lens. Color stripes can be drawn on glass paper, which will also bring new optical effects.
Note that the photos taken in this way will always reduce the clarity.
Stockings/socks
Use silk stockings (don't get me wrong) to make a soft-focus photo filter. Wrap the lens in silk stockings and then pull it out with elastic band. After that, make sure you can still use the zoom ring and focus ring for manual sharpening.
In bright light, the tiny mesh of stockings acts as a diffuser. Using silk stockings in photos can get blurred images or "nostalgic" effects.
Red wine glass (goblet)
Take an ordinary wine glass and fill it with water. Look through the glass. Due to refraction, you will see a reflection in the glass.
You can take beautiful photos through the glass. Fill the glass with water and put it in front of the subject. Select a focus (this is the image you see on the glass surface). To set before shooting, please switch to aperture priority mode and choose a smaller aperture value. At a small aperture, the lens shutter will open, which will produce a shallow depth of field: key foreground objects will be in focus and the background will be very blurred.
After shooting, when editing in a graphics program, you can flip the image 180 degrees (upside down). From the perspective of perception, the light in the image now propagates in the "correct" way.
sunglasses
Do you have a polarizing filter? A pair of sunglasses will help to achieve a similar polarization effect. This will be achieved by reducing glare and changing the properties of reflected light.
The images in sunglasses and glasses can completely change the whole scene, and you can also create embedded images in the pictures.
Luminous rod
Finally, glow sticks can add rainbows to portraits and even all other types of photos. Activate the light sticks (as shown below, the small light sticks work best), and then connect them to the lens with any configuration (after a while, decide which configuration works best). You can use one or several sticks at a time.
When installing, please make sure that the wooden stick will not leave marks on the lens. Stick it carefully with tape to avoid damaging the lens. Make sure that the zoom ring and manual focus ring can rotate freely and start shooting time.
The above are photos that you can take with different filter effects with the help of objects in your life, which is worth a try.
