Let your data transfer fly, experience using KIOXIA XD10 mobile solid-state drive

I am a photography enthusiast. In the past, I just took photos and edited them with a notebook. Although the capacity of my laptop is only 500G, I will transfer the photos to the mobile hard drive after using it for a while, and I don’t think anything of it. However, now that I am shooting more and more videos, the 100M per second transfer speed of the mobile mechanical hard drive I used before seems to be too much.

So I bought this Kioxia XD10 mobile solid state drive. This mobile solid-state drive is available in three capacities: 500G, 1T and 2T. I think the current 1T model is still very cost-effective. I put the two hard drives together, and the huge difference in size between them shows the portability and compactness of the Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive.

As for Kioxia, I believe everyone knows that its predecessor is the famous Toshiba Memory. The renamed KIOXIA not only ensures quality, performance and reliability, but also has great improvements in appearance and user experience. This Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive uses a metal body with dimensions of only 105mm 45mm 14.7mm. Its rounded body and simple arc design make it very slim, and it doesn't look obtrusive when placed in your pocket.

The interface of the Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive uses a Type-C interface and supports USB3.2 Gen2. In terms of transmission speed, the official gives a sequential reading speed of up to 1050MB/s. I will test it later. The mobile solid-state drive comes with a Type-C to C cable and a Type-C to A cable, which can be used with different devices.

The Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive can be used directly after being plugged into the computer. There is a status indicator light next to the interface to check the working status of the mobile hard drive. The capacity of the Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive displayed on the computer is 931GB, and the default file system is exFAT format.

The laptop I use is Lenovo Xiaoxin. I used CrystalDiskMark software to test the read and write speed of the Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive. The actual test results showed that the read and write speeds reached over 1000MB/s, and The official highest data is almost the same. I am still very satisfied with this performance.

In actual use, when copying video files from the computer to the mobile hard disk, the transfer speed is basically stable at above 560MB/s, and it is very stable from beginning to end. A 3GB movie only takes 5 seconds. After the transmission is completed, the flying speed is really cool.

In addition, when I copied some learning materials and software, the transfer speed was even slightly higher than that of a single video file. As can be seen from the entire transfer speed graph, the KIOXIA XD10 mobile solid-state drive is also very stable for the transfer of multiple files.

Similarly, when copying data from a mobile solid-state drive to a computer, the transfer speed is basically stable at above 550MB/s, and the transfer speed is also very fast. I am very satisfied with the performance of the KIOXIA XD10 mobile solid-state drive in terms of read and write speed, especially seeing that its transmission is stable, and the data protection provided by the original particles is naturally even better.

In addition, the metal body of the Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive has very good heat dissipation effect. I use it to hang directly on my desktop computer and use it as an external hard drive to process the internal pictures through PS. During use, it was detected that the temperature rise of the Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive was only 27 degrees, which made me a little unbelievable.

Later, I used Lr to perform a series of batch processing on the pictures of the mobile solid state drive. After using it for more than two hours, the hard drive temperature finally measured was only 38 degrees, which is lower than the temperature of the hard drive that comes with my fuselage. Through these tests, we can also see that the Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive is also very good in terms of temperature control.

That night, I downloaded several 4K movies, watched one on the projector, and touched the YiKiaoxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive with my hand. The surface only felt warm. Now I You can use it with confidence.

Summary:

Through the above tests, I am very satisfied with the excellent performance of the Kioxia XD10 mobile solid-state drive. If you have high-speed mobile storage needs, this mobile solid-state drive is still highly recommended. In addition, its small and simple appearance is also very convenient. For someone like me who often uses a laptop to process pictures and videos, there is no problem in using it as an external hard drive. Finally, I would like to make a small suggestion. I hope the manufacturer can design a lanyard on the appearance, or provide a special storage bag, which would be more considerate.
