Eight tips for using SLR cameras to teach you how to shoot personal micro-movies
1. Try to shoot in an indoor space. This space can be a very wide indoor space like a subway station or an airport terminal, or it can be a small confined space like an old residential building. If it is an outdoor scene, it is recommended to choose the night as much as possible, and it is best to have a variety of strange lighting colors in the space, which will help to highlight the mood and personality of the characters.
2. Choose an ultra-wide-angle lens, the wider the better. A wide angle can create a strong sense of spatial distortion, and many of the images in the films of Doyle and Wong Kar-Wai were shot with a 9.7mm fisheye lens, so understanding this focal length is very important to achieve this style of painting. Especially in an extremely crowded city like Hong Kong, choosing a wide-angle lens can well reflect the feeling of being squeezed by people on the edge of the city.
3. Use POV mode to tilt the composition. For example, Wong Kar-wai's "Fallen Angel" uses a large number of oblique compositions. The oblique compositions combined with exaggerated wide-angle distortion can well present the inner loneliness, ego and tension of modern urbanites. This kind of tilted composition can be easily shot using the Zhiyun stabilizer's unique POV mode. You can also use the stabilizer to moderately shoot some overhead and overhead shots as auxiliary material for later editing.
5. Shoot from the stabilizer + camera while moving the lens. In terms of lens movement, since this is a movie shooting after all, Steadicam is used in some scenes, and not all of them are shot handheld. But for people who shoot daily, they need to use a stabilizer to eliminate the jitter caused during shooting, and use a stabilizer to achieve the Steadicam style of moving the camera.
6. Try to rotate the image when shooting. This is the core element. Mixing the lens rotation with the forward and backward movement can create a very unique visual feel, which has a very good emphasis on the overall look and feel of the video. . To rotate the image, you need to hold the stabilizer with both hands and turn on the pov mode at the same time;
7. Use the focus handwheel of the stabilizer to shoot with the lens. The shot can be shot in the forward direction or in the backward direction. During shooting, if the camera and characters move in opposite directions, the impact will be stronger. When shooting, hold the stabilizer with both hands and manually follow the focus. Find the focus setting at the end of the shot when you are close to the character in advance. Follow the focus through the movement of your footsteps. In the later stage, you can highlight the suddenness of the moving shot and release the acceleration.
8. Shoot staggered tracking shots. Staggered tracking shots are an evolution of dash shots and can create an elf-like perspective for watching movies. You can also use the fixed modes on the stabilizer such as left and right follow and full follow to imitate the style of Wang Jiawei's moving mirror. You can also try the mad dog mode to enhance the suddenness of the movement.
