I share two parts about the content of photography light and the theme of "photography light".

The first part: The function of photographic light has four functions, which are shown in the following four aspects.

Part II: Characteristics of light. Yesterday's lecture shared the classification and divergence of light.

1. Classification of light: natural light, artificial light and mixed light.

2. Light divergence: direct light (natural or artificial light, with clear contour edges and obvious shadows), completely diffused light (usually on cloudy days, but the shadows are not obvious), and directional diffused light (some directional light sources are clear and the shadows are blurred, but not clear).

I shared the direct light of the spotlight yesterday. The light beam is very strong, the shadow is very thick, and the outline is very clear, which is used to show certain effects.

Two other artificial light sources have been added today:

One is continuous light source, such as ordinary lamps and ceiling lamps, which are artificially designed to make up for the lack of light; Floodlights are also used in indoor photography to supplement the design of insufficient light in indoor photography.

The other is a light source that emits light instantly, such as a flash. When taking pictures, the photographer will say: Look here, look here, and then click, the flash is on, and the shooting is complete. The light source that lights up at that moment is the instantaneous light source.

Today, I will continue to share the third part: the angle of light.

1, angle classification of light

It can be divided into front light, back light, side light, top light and bottom light, which are explained as follows:

Split light: the direction of light is the same as that of shooting.

Backlight: The light comes from behind the object or person being photographed. In order to achieve a certain artistic effect, sometimes it is necessary to fill the light. For example, when shooting a silhouette, you usually use backlight shooting.

Side light: The light comes from the side of the object or person, that is, the side of the camera, and it is also taken with side light to achieve some artistic effect. Photometry is subdivided into front side light, side backlight and 90-degree side light.

Top light: As the name implies, the top light comes from above the scene or person being photographed.

Bottom light: The bottom light comes from below the scene or person being photographed. At this time, both the photographer and the subject will give people a feeling of tension and fear. When shooting horror movies, background light is usually used to increase the fear of the picture.

2, the characteristics of five kinds of light

Characteristics of sunlight: When shooting an object or a person with sunlight, there is no obvious shadow on the front of the subject, so the stereoscopic impression of the photo is poor, because there is no shadow projection, which will give people the feeling that the object is on the same plane. And whether it is a distant scene or a nearby scene, their brightness is close (similar in jargon). The disadvantages of this kind of works shot in light are: it is not conducive to expressing the sense of space; The advantages are: bright colors.

Characteristics of backlight: Because most of the people or scenery are in the shadow, the contrast between light and dark is relatively large, which highlights the light of the lines of the photographed object and the outline is very prominent, which explains the spatial perspective well. Such photos are full of life and charming light and shadow.

The characteristics of sidelight: the contrast between light and shade of the scenery or characters photographed by sidelight is greater, and the lines of the main body are extracted from the main body with obvious texture. The color of the picture is very rich, which is more conducive to expressing the three-dimensional sense and space sense of the scene.

The characteristics of the top light: the characters photographed by the top light highlight the head of the portrait, showing a feeling of depression or seriousness or joy or sacredness. Generally, when expressing joy, the picture is full of enthusiasm and joy.

Characteristics of bottom light: Generally, bottom light is not used alone for shooting. However, in order to show some specific effects, such as the previous bottom light shooting, the characters in movies and TV dramas are vilified. The bottom lamp often cooperates with the main lamp up and down to form butterfly light or high and low light to illuminate people. This can eliminate the eye shadow, laugh lines and eye bags of the subject, and at the same time highlight the light emitted by the eyes.
