At the final judging meeting of the National Youth Life Photography Competition, one work conquered all the judges. Whether they are young judges with forward-thinking ideas or elderly judges with deep qualifications, they all cast their votes without hesitation. "Moon Valley" deservedly won the gold medal in the Life Photography Competition!
I am one of the judges and a senior photojournalist. I have seen many kinds of photography works, but this is the first time I have seen such a shocking work.
This is a black and white photography. On the screen, the shape of the two mountain peaks is very terrifying. The mountains are like a complicated network, showing an eerie black color. When I first saw it, what jumped out in front of me were two skeletons. However, at the top of these two gloomy meshes, a dazzling bright color unexpectedly flashed. This bright color is so irresistible and invincible. This is a magical light! Behind the mountain peaks is pitch black ink. In the dark depths, a bright moon hangs in the sky. The light on this mountain peak comes from this bright moon. Oh, this is a valley of darkness and light, a valley of death and noise, a valley of death and rebirth!
The thrilling Valley of Life in Moon Valley!
Who is the author of "Valley of the Moon"? How could he create such a masterpiece?
A cover letter from the author reveals the secret.
I am a cancer patient, 12 years old this year.
When I was 5 years old, my father, who is a photography enthusiast, took my hand and pressed the shutter on the camera. I took the first photo in my life of green buds that had just broken ground in a flower pot. . I was so happy, I never thought my little hands could take such wonderful photos! From then on, photography has been connected with my life.
Every Sunday, my father would ride his bicycle and take me out to take pictures. Mountains, rivers, woods, fields, seashores, lakesides... all have left our footprints.
Just as my interest in photography was getting stronger and stronger, I suddenly got cancer.
It was during a filming trip to Mount Huangshan last year. When I was going down the mountain, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my thigh. After returning to Shanghai, I immediately went to the hospital for a check-up. The diagnosis came like a bolt from the blue: bone cancer, which had spread.
In the past year, medical treatment has become almost the entire content of my life. However, photography is still the most important thing in my mind. During my free time from treatment, I never stopped taking photos. I thought: My life may be extremely short. The shorter it is, the more I have to seize the time to take pictures. The more photos I take, the longer my life will be.
Last month, the doctor said to me frankly: I'm sorry, but I have to tell you truthfully that a recent cancer cell biopsy showed that your life is nearing the end.
I have no fear or pain. At this moment, I actually came up with an idea that shocked even me: using the cancer cells in my slices to take the last photo of my life!
The doctor was moved by my idea. He showed me slices of my cancer cells on the instrument. Seeing this weird picture, I was shocked: the cancer cells are so ugly, so ugly that it’s scary to say the least! However, under the strong light of the instrument, it turned out to be so beautiful, so beautiful that it shocked the soul! The reason why ugliness and beauty are so opposite and yet integrated probably stems from the shining of light. So, I scanned the two cancer cell images on the computer to form two big mountains. On the distant dark sky, I created a bright moon. This bright moon was my first sun-gazing photo in early spring. Down.
I have been thinking about the title of this work for a long time. Finally, I called it: Moon Valley. I want to use this work to tell people: As long as you have a bright heart, death is also beautiful!
The reporter’s professional instinct drove me to interview the photographer of this work. I must write a major report and publish it on the front page of the newspaper!
I followed the address written by the author and found it quickly. However, the teacher and principal told me the same news: he has gone!
He has gone!
The grieving father conveyed his son’s instructions before his death. After returning to Beijing, I carried out the deceased's instructions meticulously. I mounted "Valley of the Moon" in the most exquisite frame and sent it to the China Anti-Cancer Foundation, asking them to donate it to all young cancer patients. At the bottom of the work, I printed in gold characters the words of the deceased who had spent their life: As long as you have light in your heart, death is also beautiful!
