Xishuangbanna Menglu Buddhist temple

It takes only one hour to fly from Kunming to Xishuangbanna.

After getting off the plane, we called a taxi soon. We asked the taxi driver to help us find a hotel, so we stayed at a home near Lancang River.

The scenery on the shore is beautiful, and there are many merchants who can eat authentic Dai food.

The next day, I visited the Mengling Buddha Temple.

Monroe Buddhist Temple was restored and rebuilt on the original site of the ancient royal temple "Jingpiao Buddhist Temple", which was built by King A Dai named Bolong in Dai history to commemorate the death of Wang Feinan.

Every major festival, such as the Water-splashing Festival, Dai family members will go to the Buddhist temple to worship Buddha. In Xishuangbanna, there are many Buddhist temples in the countryside with different architectural styles. There are still more than 500 Buddhist temples and more than 200 pagodas in Dai villages in Xishuangbanna. As the largest Buddhist temple among all Buddhist temples, Mengling Buddha Temple is supreme and is a Buddhist holy place in the eyes of Dai family.

China, Yunnan and Dai all belong to Southern Buddhism, also known as Hinayana Buddhism. The basic teachings and theories of Hinayana Buddhism are "four truths": bitter truths, gathering truths, destroying truths and Tao truths. Buddhism believes that life has experienced eight hardships, such as birth, old age, illness and death. It advocates self-liberation, seclusion and practice, and finally achieves nirvana. It is expected that through the pursuit of good karma, good karma will be accumulated and good results will be obtained in the afterlife.

The Dai Buddhist temple in Xishuangbanna is mainly built with double eaves and sloping flat tiles. Buddhist temples are mostly square, facing east from east to west, and the roof slope consists of three floors. The nave is high, and the east and west sides are staggered in descending order. The roof adopts rectangular tiles, and the tail of the tiles is hooked on the flat bamboo rafters. All kinds of tiles are arranged on it. The tiles on the main ridge are flame-shaped, and most of the ridges have the image of a phoenix, which is unique.

Peacock Garden Peacock is a lucky bird of Dai nationality. Peacocks are put in Peacock Garden every day, but Dai girls only look at Dai women.
