Evaluation criteria of human body art

Appreciating excellent human photography works can transform the human body into a visual style that transcends time and space by means of accurate light and shadow, distortion, abstraction and alienation. It reproduces the charm of the external form of the human body and the rich diversity of the internal temperament of the characters. At the same time, it discusses the special relationship between people and living space, social environment and moral concepts. At the same time, it does not avoid the factors closely related to the human body, such as lust and sexiness, and sublimates and refines the sexual power in the human body as much as possible. The evaluation standard of human photography is the most difficult problem in all photography classifications. Human body photography involves the most intimate field of all photographic subjects, so how to establish a more objective evaluation system, although people have made countless efforts in 100 years, is still difficult to reach a conclusion. Because of the privacy of human photography, it is decided that human photography itself is no longer limited to the category of photography, but closely related to social customs, ethics, political concepts and other ideological forms. The embarrassment caused by human body photography abroad and the ebb and flow of human body photography in China have long proved its complexity. But because of this, we still hope to find a relatively reasonable space for the evaluation standard of human photography as much as possible. Otherwise, it will be difficult to control the fierce wave of human photography. This paper attempts to combine the development trend of human body photography abroad and the present situation of human body photography in China, and sort out some sensitive issues on the evaluation criteria.

1839, after photography was officially named, the human body was taken as the subject immediately, and it lasted for a long time. Of course, if we compare nudity in art with a long history, such as painting and sculpture, the status of human photography is far less recognized than that of nude works in other art categories. Although photographers are optimistic that the nudity of human body can be transformed into works of art through the lens of a camera through the idealization and beautification of art, in the19th century, some traditional artists insisted that it is impossible to produce artistic nude photography due to the inherent realism of photography. In this way, in order to pursue the artistic position of photography, the human body has always been a challenging photography theme for some ambitious art photographers. First of all, we can see that as an evaluation system, some photographers use painting and other artistic techniques for reference, making body photography more like a painting with a classical tendency, thus gaining social recognition imperceptibly. For example, oscar gustave rejlander, a high school of photography, created Two Roads of Life, and participated in the Manchester Art Exhibition in England in 1857, which made the photo equal to oil painting and sculpture for the first time and was recognized as a work of art. The nude image in the picture only caused a short controversy and was quickly recognized by people. As a result, this work was obtained by the British royal family, which proved that it met the orthodox Victorian standards. Another example is a photo of a woman holding a clay pot with silver iodide taken by the French painter Villeneuve with the help of French painters such as Francis Boveen. These simple postures and dramatic lighting patterns show that the portrait techniques in traditional oil paintings continue to affect human photography, and at the same time, it has become a measure of whether photography has become an art.
