The Behind-the-scenes Production of "Chasing the Murder in a White Night"

Creation background

Chasing the Murder in a White Night is adapted from the Norwegian film Insomnia (1997). Producers Paul Junger Witt and Edward MacDonald are interested in the background of this film and the unique predicament of the protagonist, so they ask screenwriter Hillary Seitz to adapt it. After a year of careful research and careful conception, the script was finally completed. The name of the film's protagonist Will Domo comes from the Latin dormire, which means sleep.

Setup settings

The film was shot in Alaska and British Columbia, Canada. Nolan, the director, and Vale Faith, the special envoy of photography director, used a shooting style, which not only captured the vast and magnificent natural scenery, but also focused on the characters in the film. The interior of the film is set in darkness, which is in sharp contrast with the strong light outside. Porcelain paint that can reflect light to walls and dark corners is used in the set.
