Archaeologists may have discovered King Arthur's birthplace: the legend has come back to life?

Recently, a relic of 1 500 years ago was discovered in Tagel, southwest England, which made headlines all over the world.

It seems that the palace walls of the Dark Age have been found in the exact place, which can be traced back to the ruins of the courtyards on the mainland of TinTagel Castle in Cornwall when King Arthur was born.

It is reported that Arthur's father-to-be, Wu Seer Panlong, fell in love with Duke of Cornwall's wife, Iglaine. Merlin made a magic potion for him to look like her husband, so that the couple could live in her residence in TinTagel.

The plan succeeded, but there was an unexpected result: the baby Arthur was conceived. Although these bizarre stories make historians doubt the possible history of King Arthur, there are still some early sayings. For example, in 830 AD, an English monk named Ninius began the history of the British people and portrayed Arthur in a more pragmatic historical background.

It is said that Arthur was a powerful warrior, who united the English aborigines with the invading Anglo-Saxons around 500 AD.

The Romans ruled England for four centuries. When they left in the fifth century, the country split into different hostile kingdoms, allowing Anglo-Saxons to invade from their motherland in Germany.

Map: About 500 AD, when King Arthur was alive, it was in the south of England.

(Map drawn by graham phillips), from the few historical records of this period discovered and preserved by archaeology, we know that the enemy was unstoppable at first and occupied half of the country.

Then in 1949, the situation changed: the British launched a large-scale counterattack and drove the Anglo-Saxons back to the East.

The sudden change of this event means the emergence of a strong and unified Britain to a great extent.

The problem is that his or her name can't be found in any contemporary words or inscriptions.

The turmoil in the post-Roman era led to few written records left in this period. However, someone must be leading the British at this time. The oldest existing records reveal who this is. This is the history of the British in Nenes. Tell us this is Arthur.

Unfortunately, Nineveh and other early writers did not disclose King Arthur's background or his birthplace.

However, archaeology has found evidence of King Arthur's possible capital, or at least the people who led Britain in the late fifth century.

The excavation of the ancient Roman city of Veroconeum near Shrewsbury in central England found evidence that it was the largest and most heavily defended city in Britain around 500 AD, and at that time, a huge and exquisite mansion was built in its center.

Archaeologists believe that this palace may be the palace of an influential military figure in central England, and it may be the site of Camelot in history. It is one of the last classical buildings built in Britain for thousands of years.

(Photographed by EarthQuest Photography Company), maybe this is the man who reorganized the British army to repel the Anglo-Saxons.

If Arthur recorded this, he was active in many places.

Ninius recorded King Arthur's twelve battles in all parts of England, which means that although King Arthur may eventually rule from a city in central England, he may have been born anywhere.

So could he have been born in TinTagel? Although Geoffrey of Monmouth's description of Arthur's birth reads like fantasy, it may be based on the core of truth.

When Arthur was seriously injured and lying on the battlefield, the story of the lady who was thrown to the lake by Execaliber sounded equally incredible.

Many weapons have been found in Neversell archaeology, including swords thrown by ancient British people into sacred ponds and lakes as sacrifices to the goddess of water.

Maybe Arthur's sword was really thrown into the lake. I hope such a god can cure him.

The story of Arthur's conception can also be explained by similar modifications.

It is said that royal advisers like Merlin did exist in the fifth century.

They are called bards: some are poets and some are wizards, and they are recognized for their knowledge of medicinal plants.

Among them are the famous "magic mushrooms". Maybe Eglon gave her a dose of medicine to convince her that Uther was her husband.

However, even if the legend of King Arthur's conception is based on a real event, the place where King Arthur conceived has long been a problem.

(Public sphere) Although works like Nennius do imply that there is a historical figure behind the legend of King Arthur, Jeffrey has a story that King Arthur was born in Tagel Castle in his time.

Historical records show that this castle was built at the beginning of 12 century. Around 500 AD, the legendary place where King Arthur was born and the birthplace of the king-the ruins of Ting Tagel Castle in Cornwall, was 600 years late.

(Photographed by the Earth Exploration Photography Society) The rugged gray stone ruins that can be seen on the cliffs of TinTagel today are the remains of a castle built in the13rd century, replacing the castle that stood there in Jeffrey's time.

However, even in the early1100s, this structure had not been built.

However, ongoing archaeological excavations have excavated the foundations of ancient buildings that used to occupy the site.

Judging from the exquisite pottery, ceramics, glass and other high-level cultural relics unearthed at present, people think it is the residence of a rich and important individual. It is said that Arthur lived in that era, perhaps Arthur's mother in history.

The legendary king may have been born in Taser after all.

If this is the place where King Arthur was born, then perhaps the excavation work is still in progress, and finally something with his name may be uncovered: the ultimate evidence that King Arthur really exists.
