"Afterglow" monthly magazine was first published in January 1989. It was originally the journal of the Town Retired Teachers Association. Its purpose was to convey information, exchange ideas, maintain relationships, and regulate the spiritual life of its members. In September 1993, the Town Retired Cadres Management Service Station decided to jointly organize this magazine with the Town Retired Cadres Association to expand its distribution targets. Starting from the 55th issue, the two publications became the same, and their purpose was changed to service In "the old age has something to learn, the old age has something to do, the old age has to have fun, the old age has something to support, and the old age has to have medical treatment". By 1997, 100 issues had been published. Starting from the 159th issue of "Afterglow", the town government provides special funds, and the town leaders take the lead in writing articles. The circulation of the publication has increased from the initial 80 to 500. The quality has continued to improve and its influence has continued to expand. The cover and printing technology of the publication have also been further refined and professionalized. Starting from the 177th issue of this magazine (November 2003), the town party committee decided to change the printing in the town to Zhongyuan Printing Factory. The cover added new scenery such as "Academician Pavilion" and "Jinye Bridge", and the content included Kanshi City. Major news, monographs, reviews, miscellaneous talks, essays, folklore, poetry, couplets and health care knowledge, etc., are also distributed to cadres, entrepreneurs and celebrities from the inside. "Afterglow" has become the window for external publicity of the Kanshi Town Party Committee and the government, a bridge to communicate with the masses, and the spiritual home of retired comrades.
By the end of 2005, the 17th anniversary of the publication and the publication of 203 issues, the number of authors writing for the publication expanded from local to foreign, from ordinary authors to well-known writers and celebrities, such as Zhang Shengyou, Zhang Wei, and Chen Yanrong , Lu Xianfa, Lu Yuzhang, Lu Hanxin, Chen Yanian, Jiang Changwu, Tu Xiangsheng, Weng Dingshan, Lu Jinzhong, Lu Jianbin, Lu Juxing, etc. In the early days of the journal, there were only about 10 authors, but now there are more than 80 authors. "Kanshi Town Chronicle" is divided into 27 chapters and 113 sections, from the Tang Dynasty to 2000, covering construction, physical geography, population, agriculture, forestry, water conservancy and hydropower, industry, transportation, post and telecommunications, Town and village construction, commerce, supply and marketing, grain and oil, industrial and commercial management, finance and taxation, finance, political power, party and mass, public security and justice, civil affairs, military, education, culture, sports, medicine and health, customs, religion, characters, village (residential) introduction, etc. . The book contains 480,000 words and comes with 325 color pages (including maps). Lu Youjie, executive editor of the book, has a fund of 150,000 yuan, most of which was sponsored by units and entrepreneurs.
"Kanshi Town Chronicles" adheres to the perspective of historical materialism and objectively records the nature, society, history and current situation of Kanshi. Especially in terms of humanities, geography, historical evolution and economic context, it has both traditional characteristics and the style of the times. It provides a scientific basis for the construction of Kan City. The journal adheres to the compilation principle of "the writing is straightforward, the facts are focused, and the beauty is not false, and the evil is not hidden", showing the local historical picture of Kanshi; when compiling, it takes time as the warp, category as the latitude, rigorous structure, and strong logical and systematic. It embodies the functions of local chronicles to "advise government, educate and preserve history".
The cover of the magazine was inscribed by General Lu Rencan, deputy political commissar of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and the title page was inscribed by Lai Caikui, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Longyan Municipal Party Committee. Colonel Lu Junkun, political commissar of the branch directly under the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, wrote a poem. The cover photography is by Zhan Yinsen, editorial board member of West Fujian Daily. Lu Chunping, secretary of the town party committee, and Zhang Shengyou, secretary of the Secretariat of the Chinese Writers Association, president and editor-in-chief of the Writers Publishing House, respectively wrote prefaces to the town annals.
