Although we can only shoot 15P 4K video for 10 minutes, personally, I think this is Nikon's preliminary preparation for future models. In short, the significance is greater than the actual effect. Buying guide:

This camera really makes people love and hate. Although it focuses on 4K video, it can only shoot 15P 10 minute video. Fortunately, other video modes are rich. At the same time, the high-quality image quality at night is also very wrong. The appearance of Nikon 1 J5 has changed a lot, and it looks better. Some members of the Appearance Association can pay attention to it. At present, the camera suite has not been fully rolled out in the market. It is estimated that the price of the suit will be around 3,800 yuan, but you don't have to worry about buying it after listing. If you drop it to 800 yuan, you will definitely not lose money.

The layout of the buttons on the back of Nikon J5 has changed a lot, the buttons are distributed more evenly, and the grip part of the thumb is also designed to be convex and anti-slip. In the center of the cross control dial, a one-button WIFI open key is added, which makes transmission more convenient.

On the front, we were also pleasantly surprised to find a brand-new Fn button, which has never appeared on J series products before. It can be said that the change of Nikon 1 J5 is still practical.

Nikon J5 still uses Mirco SD card as storage medium. Because Nikon 1 J5 has a continuous shooting capability of up to 60fps, there is a certain requirement on the reading and writing speed of Mirco SD card.

Because the appearance of Nikon J5 has changed greatly, and at the same time, it is necessary to maintain a compact body design, so it uses a relatively smaller 850mAh battery, which is a little smaller than the previous10/0 mAh capacity of Nikon J4.

The pixel resolution of the sensor is average.

Nikon 1J5 not only increases the number of pixels of the sensor from 1 8.4 million to 208 100, but also is the first camera in Nikon1inch reflex-free series that uses a back-illuminated CMOS sensor. So what is the performance of this new sensor?

The center resolution is better in F4-F8, and the edge resolution is best in F5.6 and F8. From the comprehensive performance of center and edge resolution, Nikon 1 J5 achieved the best resolution in F5.6, but after F8, the resolution of center and edge began to decrease.

It can be seen from the partial screenshots of the real sample 100% that Nikon 1 J5 has a general performance for details, although the low-pass filter is cancelled, but it is basically within the acceptable range. We all know that with the same number of pixels, the larger the sensor size, the better the imaging quality, so the reason for this situation has something to do with the 1 inch sensor used in this camera.

The overall color is blue.

Let's look at the color shift of Nikon 1 J5 camera. In the color test, we use Nikon 1 J5 to set the automatic white balance mode to shoot the standard color card (the red box area in the above picture is the color test range), and finally analyze the test results with Imatest software.

The part surrounded by gray lines in the figure is the color gamut range of Nikon 1 J5. The square color block in the test chart is the ideal color value, and the circular color block is the actual shooting value. As can be clearly seen from the above picture, in the automatic white balance mode, the color of Nikon 1 J5 machine is obviously blue, and the color temperature is cold, which is more suitable for taking photos with landscape themes.

Is ISO 1600 the limit?

The image processor of Nikon 1 series mirrorless cameras has been upgraded from generation to generation, and this time it has been upgraded to a brand-new EXPEED 5A. Of course, the main reason for the upgrade is to support the shooting of 4K video, but let's pass the image quality test at high sensitivity.

Nikon 1 J5 can still keep a relatively clean picture before ISO800 without turning on noise reduction mode, and more details can be preserved. When it rises to ISO 1600, a small amount of noise visible to human eyes appears, while when it rises to ISO3200, the noise increases and many details begin to be lost. So ISO 1600 is the limit ISO value of this camera.

After turning on noise reduction, you can obviously see that the whole picture becomes cleaner, but the corresponding details in ISO 1600 are not as much as those without turning on noise reduction. Therefore, if you want to keep the details and get a clear picture, it is more appropriate to choose ISO800 when turning on the noise reduction mode.

Continuous shooting has super performance.

The biggest feature of Nikon 1 J series is its ultra-fast continuous shooting speed, because Nikon 1 series is equipped with electronic shutter besides mechanical shutter. Nikon J5 continues the continuous shooting capability of the previous products, which is the fastest 20fps (continuous focus) and the highest 60fps (locked focus). First of all, this is beyond the reach of SLR. Even the mirrorless cameras that are good at continuous shooting can hardly reach the level of Nikon 1 series.

Let's take a look at this camera's 20fps continuous shooting capability:

In the process of shooting, I found that the continuous shooting speed of this camera is very fast, but it is also a great test for the memory card. Personally, I use the following C 10 Sandisk 32G Mirco SD card, which is commonly used by everyone. The reading and writing speed is 48 MB/s. It is impossible to completely record 20 photos after the first shot, so it will take a while to take the next one after the first shot.

In addition, I also set it to 30fps and 60fps, but when I try this card, I can only take 20 pictures at most. Therefore, if you want to experience the 60fps capability of Nikon 1 series, you should use at least 60Mb/s Mrico SD card. To be on the safe side, it is best to choose Mirco SD card with a reading speed of 95Mb/s, but this is more expensive for ordinary users.

But besides excellent continuous shooting ability, good focusing performance also directly determines the filming rate of continuous shooting. The hybrid focusing system adopted by Nikon J5 has 17 1 autofocus points, which cover almost the whole framing picture, of which 105 points are phase detection points, and all 105 autofocus points cover the whole central area of the picture, which can quickly correspond to all types of actions.

Rich video function

Nikon/KOOC-0/J5 has the ability to shoot 4K video, but it can only shoot 4K/KOOC-0/5P video/KOOC-0/0 minutes. In human eyes, at least 24P video looks smooth, so the video of 15P will make people feel "stuck", so personally, it is more meaningful to add 4K function to Nikon 1 J5 than the actual effect.

Using this mode to shoot time-lapse photography, you can finally generate a video directly. Unfortunately, this time-lapse animation has only three intervals: 5s, 10s and 20s to choose from. If you need to set other intervals, you can use the interval shooting function in the photo mode.

With the electronic shutter, Nikon 1 J5 can also shoot 120fps, 400fps and 1200fps. But all three modes can only shoot for 3 seconds! The biggest reason is that the support of image processor for high-speed recording is still limited, so fun is fun, but it just makes people feel unsatisfied. WIFI function is convenient and easy to use

Nikon 1 series has added WIFI function, but this is the first time to add NFC function to the camera. Different from the previous models, Nikon 1 J5 also specially designed a WIFI button, which can turn on WIFI with one button, which is very convenient.
