Xing Yahui’s interview record

"Made in China" interview with him:

Reporter: When I called Xing Yahui, he had a cold and coughed from time to time, but he still insisted on completing the entire interview, and he kept speaking. There is never a trace of unhappiness or irritability, and it is as gentle as a cup of warm Longjing tea. As an interviewer, this is undoubtedly the most touching thing for me. Details often reveal a person's virtues, and whether or not the interview is enjoyable depends largely on the person being interviewed. Although we are not face to face, we can feel his sincerity and hope that his cold will get better as soon as possible.

1. Obsessed with the Art of Painting

Xing Yahui dresses up in a very personal style, wearing ripped jeans, a T-shirt with irregular patterns, and short hair. To be honest, he doesn't look like an artist in his outfit. If he does, it shows through his eyes. However, Xing Yahui said with a smile that he used to have long hair, and he was even more extreme and raunchy than now. It seems that he should be a "normal person" now.

In fact, the reason why "artistic dressing" is mentioned is because Xing Yahui is extremely obsessed with the art of painting. His favorite painters include Impressionist Van Gogh, Expressionist master Schiele, and Secessionist Klimt. Special, illustrator Louis, etc. also have a certain understanding of their works. Especially Schiele's paintings. Xing Yahui had seen his paintings when he was still in junior high school and liked his simple and smooth lines and different styles in the rain. After going to college, I gained a deeper understanding of Schiele's paintings. "The tranquility and smoothness shown in many of his sketches are something that all painters should learn from, and photographers should also learn from." In addition, Van Gogh Xing Yahui’s paintings are also a favorite of Xing Yahui’s. Although Van Gogh was caught in the gap between ideal and reality, his injustice and belief convinced Xing Yahui that the world is beautiful. “I admire Van Gogh’s fanatical pursuit of art. Although it is a tragedy, His influence will always be there. "Most artists are neurotic and have crazy blood flowing in their blood. When asked about the fact that as a normally unassuming photographer, he would do crazy things from time to time, Xing Yahui smiled a little shyly and answered honestly, "Of course, he is a different person from usual."

Of course, this love for painting art also directly affects Xing Yahui's photography style. For example, in his pictures, you can hear the smooth sound of music and the always quiet colors.

2. The role of photography instructor

Many times, an accidental turning point can always change a person's life. The reason why Xing Yahui entered the photography circle was indeed because of an accident. In 1996, Xing Yahui decorated a Taiwanese wedding photo studio, drew renderings, and gradually became familiar with the photo studio owner. During the conversation and understanding, the Taiwanese boss found that Xing Yahui was very sensitive to color, suitable for being a photographer, and had good foundation. Yes, he was a very down-to-earth person, so I invited him to be the photographer in the studio. Although he had never been a photographer before, Xing Yahui agreed with the idea of ??trying something new and having a vague interest in photography. It lasted four years. During the four years in this photo studio, it can be said that Xing Yahui turned from a hobbyist who did not understand photography into a real photographer, and his photography skills have also been greatly improved. Therefore, until now, Xing Yahui is very grateful to this Taiwanese boss, "I thank him for making me embark on the path of photography."

In 2000, Xing Yahui went to Shijiazhuang and co-founded Sun Lovers Wedding Photography The company was doing well, but due to differences with his partners, he quit and went it alone, establishing Legend Vision Fashion Photography Studio. After working for a while, Xing Yahui found that Hebei's cultural atmosphere was not strong and its fashion resources were relatively scarce. After some thought, he decided to return to Beijing for development.

For Xing Yahui, being a photography lecturer is a happy thing. And his carefulness and patience also determine that he is suitable for this profession. Teaching seriously and getting along with others seriously, Xing Yahui has more than just a teacher-student relationship with his students. When there are no classes, students will be organized to regularly go to art exhibitions, or go to museums and other places of interest for expatriate activities. There will be such opportunities about two or three times a month. Beijing is an ancient cultural capital and a famous historical city. Most of the students come from all over the country, which not only enhances their enthusiasm for making films, but also greatly improves their aesthetic ability and technical knowledge. Xing Yahui has always adhered to the principle of not treating photography as work. He believes that photography is not a serious matter and should be treated with a relaxed and happy mood, just like life is casual and natural. "Photography is actually life." These are actually taken from some photos of Xing Yahui and his students playing outside. It can be seen. In the photo, he has his iconic sunny smile and his unfettered freedom, which is inexplicably touching.

Xing Yahui founded Xing's Media Imaging School and Xing's Photography Studio in Beijing, took on some commercial projects, and also devoted a large part of his time to creation. In the creative process, whether it is the use of color and light, the grasp of composition, or the selection of scene props or the performance of the model, he will not make special demands and generally just let nature take its course, but the premise must be that the theme has been planned. good. Xing Yahui is a very emotional person. He is not only sensitive about life, but also sensitive about photography. He likes to take pictures in primitive scenes. These may be related to his study of art since childhood.

He said, "I think a photographer should be an emotional person who can tell stories. Works that can move customers are good works." This also reflects his shooting philosophy and attitude towards life.
