On the application of light art in film and television shooting

Light is the most important media material in film and television shooting. Without light, there is no image, so light is not only a material condition in the process of shooting, but also an art. The following is my collection on the application of light art in film and television shooting. Welcome to read, I hope you will like it.

Abstract: In the filming process of China's films, the use of light is the key factor to determine the success or failure of film and television works. At the same time, the rational use of light can make the shot works have obvious layering and vivid colors, and make the whole film and television function full of artistic sense. Therefore, light is the most important part of film and television works, and it is also the soul and life of the works. Therefore, this paper discusses the artistic application of light in film and television shooting.

Keywords: film and television shooting; Light application; art

Everything in the world can only show the shape and color of things before light irradiation, and only after light irradiation can a layered image be taken [1]. Therefore, in the process of film and television shooting, the use of light is not only to show the characters in the film, but also to truly restore the texture of the characters. For example, the wrinkles on the old man's face can be clearly shown, and the smoothness of the glass is almost transparent.

First, the types of light used in film and television shooting

At present, film and television shooting is generally divided into two main scenes: exterior and interior. Among them, natural light is the most used light in exterior shooting, while artificial light is used in indoor shooting, so different scenes use different light types.

However, in the process of film and television shooting, many times the use of indoor lighting did not achieve the expected results, mainly because the indoor light was relatively dark, and there was no way for the characters to show their best state in the shooting process. So in the process of film and television shooting, some special lighting conditions will also be used. When the natural light of the indoor scene can't meet the shooting requirements, it can be supplemented by projecting light, such as returning light and shooting light [1]. In addition, in order to distinguish and discuss the art of using light in film and television shooting, we can basically divide the types of light into the following categories.

First of all, according to the different application properties of light, it can be divided into scattered light and direct light, in which scattered light is mainly a kind of light scattered by sunlight, which is also formed by the emission of some substances to some extent. On the contrary, if the scattered light is not a kind of light scattered by sunlight, it is the scattered light in artificial light, mainly the astigmatism produced by incandescent lamps and tungsten lamp, which is often used to show the unique tone contrast of objects, but this kind of light has clear directionality, so it is also called soft light [3].

Secondly, in addition to scattered light, there is also a direct light, which is called hard light in the process of film and television shooting. It mainly reflects the three-dimensional shape and specific outline of the characters under the shooting light, and also shows some psychological changes of the characters with great contrast. Therefore, in the process of film and television shooting, we can shoot according to the different requirements of film and television shooting, and divide different types of light into main light, auxiliary light and background light.

Second, the specific application art of light in the process of film and television shooting

1, controls the light proportion.

From the above article, we know that the main light used in film and television shooting is natural light and artificial light, which can be expressed as edge light and reflected light. Therefore, film and television photographers should control the proportion of unused light in the process of using light, so as to achieve a good effect of using light and make film and television works full of artistic charm. At the same time, if different light is not well used in the control of light proportion, the shooting result will directly affect the final shooting effect [4]. In addition, if the light ratio is adjusted too much, the light in some dark places will become stronger, but if it is adjusted too much, some originally bright colors will lose their original color layering. On the contrary, if the proportion of light is adjusted to a moderate position, some dark parts can be illuminated with normal light, and the effect of light can be well utilized in the process of film and television shooting.

2. Make full use of light to create indoor and outdoor background.

In the construction of indoor outdoor background, in many cases, in addition to the construction and layout of shooting props, the most important thing is the use of indoor light. In particular, some shooting scenes need to be completed indoors, which belongs to a relatively large outdoor work background. These large shooting scenes have high requirements and are difficult to shoot. If the light utilization is unreasonable, the shooting will fail [5]. Therefore, film and television photographers should try their best to make use of reasonable light to create the required shooting atmosphere in the process of indoor location shooting, so that the whole shooting work has better lighting effect. Secondly, when choosing a suitable shooting angle, we should also make good use of the shooting effect of light to combine with it, so as to better express the theme of the work in the shooting process.

3, the use of lighting for scientific and reasonable layout.

In the process of film and television shooting, it is necessary to make a reasonable layout of the use of light, so that the shot works have obvious layering and realistic picture colors, and then they are full of artistic charm. Secondly, we are more or less exposed to light in our daily life, so the range of light exposure is wider and more complicated. Therefore, this requires photographers to comprehensively analyze indoor and outdoor scenes in the process of film and television shooting, and to conceive the overall situation, so that their works can play an ideal artistic effect, and then promote the success of the whole work [6]. In addition, unnecessary light should be avoided in the process of film and television shooting, thus affecting the final effect of the whole work. On the other hand, film and television photographers should also arrange the light reasonably according to the shooting requirements, so that the light can play its main role as much as possible.

Third, the conclusion

To sum up, this paper discusses the art of using light in film and television shooting. Light plays an important role in film and television shooting, and the use of light is the reason that determines film and television shooting. Therefore, the rational use of light in the film and television shooting process is the key to the success of the whole work.

How to use up landscape photography

About measurement mode

Since we want to talk about light, of course, we can't miss the metering mode of the camera. Different metering modes will bring different metering results to the same picture. According to the different fields of photometry, there are three common modes.

Matrix photometry (weighing photometry)

Generally, the most commonly used metering mode will determine the metering value according to the average brightness of the picture. For landscape photography, matrix photometry can meet most shooting needs.

Focus on central measurement

Similarly, the brightness of the whole picture is used for average metering, but it will increase the weight ratio of metering in the central area, so this metering mode will be more accurate when the subject occupies the central area.

Focus on measuring this

This mode only measures about 3% of the viewing window, and the spot measurement of Nikon camera will be linked with the focus, which is suitable for scenes or subjects with specific parts as the focus to measure light.

The first element of photography is undoubtedly light. Light is like paint for painting. Painters paint on canvas with pigments, and photographers create images with light. Whether it's the previous negative film machine or the most advanced digital camera, it needs light to take pictures. Without light, there is nothing, so as long as you master the skill of using light, the work is half done!

Direction of light

There are two kinds of light: natural light and artificial light. Of course, natural light is mentioned in landscape photography, but no matter what kind of light, it will bring different visual effects because of its directionality. Next, I will introduce the characteristics of light in different directions and the shooting method.

Front lighting

When the light shines directly on the scene from the front, it is called Guang Shun). Although this kind of light is dull, it is the most accustomed and commonly used light for ordinary people to take pictures. You can take beautiful photos by doing spot metering or average metering in the bright part.

Side lamp

Another kind of light often encountered in landscape photography is also great, called sidelight. It means that the light shines from the side of the scene, which makes the scene not only have a good contrast between light and shade, but also have a more three-dimensional effect. The shooting method is also very simple. Just focus on the bright part, and then slightly adjust the EV value. As for the increase or decrease, it depends on the situation on the spot.

Backlighting

If light shines on the scene from the side and back, it is called side backlight. This kind of light can emphasize contrast and texture, and it is the most ideal light and the most stereoscopic. When shooting, spot metering is done in the bright part, and then the EV value of the camera is slightly reduced by one grid to avoid overexposure of the bright part. However, when shooting landscapes, the ideal photos can be taken by metering in the bright part.

Backlighting

The other is that the light shines from behind the scene, which is called backlight. The sun is facing the camera and the scene is behind the light, so it is taken in silhouette. If you want to shoot the scene with normal brightness, the sky will inevitably be overexposed and a dead white. When taking pictures, you can measure the light against the sky to make the sky moderately exposed. Another way of shooting is that the sun shines through the leaves and leaves to shoot a completely different scene. In this way, it is best to shoot from bottom to top with a super wide-angle or fisheye lens, so that the sun can enter the mirror and shoot the sunlight. In this way, you can measure the light under the bright leaves.

Use all kinds of light

As can be seen from the various lights described above, different lights have different effects, and how to use them properly needs more observation and practice. Making good use of light can not only turn decay into magic, but also make the finishing touch. A small butterfly with red edge, yellow and gray on the pioneer grass makes a great contrast between the main body and the surrounding environment by using the characteristics of light. Fluttershy was illuminated by lights, which made the whole one come alive. However, the messy background that the lights couldn't shine on made it seriously underexposed and hidden, so Fluttershy stood out from the crowd! Especially the wings are translucent under the backlight, which adds more beauty!

In addition, we all know that the place illuminated by light is bright, the place not illuminated is dark, and there will be shadows at the same time. Using this feature, we can shoot works with another flavor, which produces the so-called light and shadow effect.
