The foreground application skills of composition in photography

Foreground is an important factor in photographic composition. As an integral part of photos, they can highlight the main body and increase the sense of space and depth of photos. The following are the foreground application skills of composition in photography. Let's learn together:

1. What's the prospect?

Foreground is a photographic term, especially referring to the person or thing in front of or near the subject in the lens. The foreground in the lens picture, that is, as the foil of the subject, is also an integral part of a photo. It can not only highlight the subject and decorative environment, but also help to increase the sense of space and depth of photos, balance the composition and beautify the picture. In some mobile phone photography, with the change of foreground, the sense of movement and rhythm of the lens can be enhanced. However, if we unilaterally pursue the decorative beauty of the foreground, it will destroy the unity of the picture and even weaken or confuse the subject. Therefore, in photographic composition, the organic cooperation between foreground and background is very important, which is related to the harmony and unity of the scenery in the photo and its appeal.

Second, why use the prospect?

Answer 1: Because the foreground can guide the subject.

The main function of foreground in the picture is to highlight the subject, which means to guide the audience's line of sight and attention to the subject. Proper use of wide-angle lens with foreground can enhance the sense of space and depth of the picture and produce the contrast between tone and object image. The inappropriate prospect will distract the attraction and even usurp the role of the master. So when we choose the prospect, we'd better find something that can guide our sight, such as the Panshan Highway leading to the village or a row of the same trees leading to the tower.

Answer 2: Because the prospect can strengthen the contrast.

Contrast is to highlight the subject, use the contrast between foreground and subject, and break the structure of monomer. Make full use of the brightness of light and the shade of color between the foreground, the middle scene and the foreground, and set off each other to form a rich hierarchy. For example, if you take some black objects or silhouettes as the foreground, and then emphasize the dull and plain background, and use the contrast of colors to strengthen the difference between the foreground and the background, it constitutes a strong contrast. The picture below is a good example. The black stone in the picture is a good prospect. It not only highlights the color of the sky behind, but also makes the whole composition more vivid.

Answer 3: Because potential customers can increase their interest.

The performance of the prospect is undoubtedly the center of interest, but people often turn a blind eye to it, such as a stone, a clump of thatch, and the myriad weather between heaven and earth. Who cares about the smallness of mustard beans in front of you? When you turn this smallness into the protagonist of the image through the lens, the world immediately shines for the insignificant little people, and photography often gives people unexpected impacts in nuances. Therefore, we take a landscape photo, and any trees, animals, buildings or vehicles related to the picture can be used as an interesting prospect to make the photo more profound. But we must remember that the foreground is an object related to the whole picture, otherwise it will destroy the unity of the picture and even the overall artistic conception. For example, in the picture below, the author uses wooden stakes as the foreground. The height of the stake not only shows the sense of distance from the sky behind, but also enriches the composition of the whole photo.

Third, what is the shooting prospect?

1, one of the good helpers in the future: wide-angle lens.

We often use wide-angle lens and low-angle shooting in the foreground, and we can also use the distortion characteristics produced by wide-angle lens to increase the interest of the foreground. See the picture below for details. Photographers use the characteristics of wide-angle lens to enlarge the water surface as the foreground, exaggerating as much as possible, and shooting the feeling of connecting heaven and earth at the same time.

2, the prospect is a good helper: long lens

As the second helper in the foreground, the long lens is not inferior to the wide-angle lens at all, because its compressed viewing angle can play a great role and make the foreground more prominent. The picture below is a photo taken with a long lens, which captures the sunset and flower silhouette in the picture, and the flower silhouette as the foreground not only strengthens the atmosphere, but also improves the artistic expression of the work.

A good theme should have a good form of expression, and proper use of the foreground can enhance the expressive force of the work and create a new artistic conception. In addition, you can also refer to my other composition methods and techniques, which can make your photography better.
