Slit Canyon-Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon is one of the world-famous slit canyons, and it is also a famous photographic spot. It is located in the northern part of Arizona, and the nearest city is Peggy, which belongs to the Navajo Native Reserve. The canyon is divided into two independent parts, called the Upper Antelope Canyon and the Lower Antelope Canyon, which is known as one of the top ten geological wonders of the earth.

Upper Antelope Canyon is called "Tse Bighanilini" in Navajo. It means "rock with water passing through", and its latitude and longitude are 36.5 1' 28 "north latitude and11.22' 20" west longitude. Because the valley is wide and located on the ground, it is the most visited part.

In order to enter the Upper Antelope Canyon, due to the terrain limitation, you must stop at the entrance and walk on the sand for about two miles. In the past, private four-wheel drive vehicles were allowed to enter the reserve, and all tourists had to take large four-wheel drive vehicles in the reserve, and the permission to walk was also cancelled to avoid accidents when tourists walked in the hot sun.

The entrance to the Upper Antelope Canyon is not obvious. From a distance, there is only a very thin crack. After entering the canyon, some places may be quite dark and there is no direct light on the ground. The rock wall is about 20m high and about150m long. Photographers usually need a tripod and a flash to enter this area. Because there are many tourists, it takes some patience to capture a beam of sunshine and unmanned landscape.

The Lower Antelope Canyon is called "hasdeztwazi" in Navajo. It means "arched spiral rock" and will not open for about nine months in a year.

Located underground, you need to climb the metal stairs to go deep underground, and you may need some ropes to get down the Antelope Canyon. There are fewer tourists because it is difficult to get in. But it often attracts many photographers to take pictures here.

The entrance to Xiaantelope Canyon is only one person wide, which is the same height as the ground and can't be seen from a distance. After entering, it drops about 50 meters, and the total length is very long. Ordinary tourists are only allowed to walk halfway. There are many changes in the valley, and some passages are not high enough for people, so tourists may bump their heads.

Antelope Canyon is formed by various erosive forces of soft sandstone over millions of years. The erosion is mainly mountain torrents, followed by wind erosion. During the monsoon season, there are often mountain torrents flowing into the canyon. Due to the sudden surge of rainfall, the speed of flash floods is quite fast, and the narrow river channel narrows the river channel, so the vertical erosion force is relatively large, forming a hard, smooth and flowing edge on the corridor and valley wall at the bottom of Antelope Canyon.

Among them, there is an antelope cave in the canyon, which is one of the world-famous slit canyons. It is located next to the town of Page in Lake Powell, Arizona, USA. The antelope cave is also a place for photographers and tourists, enjoying the reputation of a holy place for photography!
