Discrimination against dermatologists: psoriasis is not contagious.

There is a kind of skin disease that is often stained with blood because of skin rupture, that is, "bone fracture", which occurs in young adults. The doctor said that psoriasis is different from dermatosis caused by mold. In fact, it is not contagious, but it is easy to cause discrimination and rejection of others because of its appearance, which causes great psychological burden to patients. The study also shows that this disease will affect the employment opportunities of patients, so patients should actively treat them to get out of the predicament.

In addition to itching, desquamation, tingling and other discomfort, patients with psoriasis are also prone to difficulties in socializing, working and interacting with people. The doctor said that psoriasis is different from dermatosis caused by mold. It comes from chronic autoimmune inflammation and is not contagious. (Photo/Zhang) The dermatologist at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Linkou said that besides itching, desquamation, tingling and other discomforts, patients with psoriasis are prone to problems such as social activities and difficulties in communicating with others at work, because many people are worried about being infected and have encountered them in outpatient clinics. A mother and two children are suffering from psoriasis, and neighbors are afraid of being infected, forcing the landlord not to rent a house for them.

However, this is actually a myth. Dr Huang Yuhui explained that psoriasis is not a fungal infection, but a skin disease with chronic autoimmune inflammation, so it is not contagious. However, if patients are not actively treated, the inflammation of psoriasis will cause insulin intolerance and abnormal function of vascular endothelial cells, which will lead to diseases of metabolism and cardiovascular system, including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis and myocardial infarction. In addition, the long-term non-healing of lesions may cause great psychological burden to patients. Many patients with psoriasis are complicated with depression, anxiety and alcoholism.

There are many kinds of psoriasis. Dr. Huang Yuhui explained that if patients are not actively treated, it may lead to systemic diseases. Dr. Huang Yuhui pointed out that there was a patient who used to be a cook, but his job was insecure after his illness, and his skills were totally useless. There are also patients, although the dry tinea of the whole body skin is not serious, but only the lesions of hands and nails can not be eliminated, leading to the most fearful occasion when shaking hands with people.

At present, there is no cure for psoriasis, but biological agents can effectively control it. Dr Huang Yuhui appealed that patients with psoriasis can still maintain their normal working ability and quality of life by eliminating discrimination and encouraging active treatment.
