Indeed, Yu Chunshun's activity of crossing Lop Nur was well prepared, which can be said to be foolproof. Everything was ready, except crossing, but it happened to be one in ten thousand, which killed him.

In fact, Yu Chunshun did not cross Lop Nur alone in the original plan. His main task is to cooperate with the documentary crew of Shanghai TV Station to shoot a documentary. However, after the filming was completed, Yu Chunshun decided to cross Lop Nur on foot, creating history and breaking records.

Yu Chunshun became famous in the 1990s, and all kinds of newspapers and magazines reported that he was the first traveler and explorer to cross China on foot and measure the motherland with his feet. During the eight years from1July 1988 to1June 1996, Yu Chunshun traveled all over the mountains and rivers of the motherland, north and south of the great river, inside and outside the Great Wall, both sides of the Yellow River, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Pamirs Plateau and Northeast Plain. Known as "the first person to walk in China", he visited 34 ethnic minorities, traveled more than 40,000 kilometers and wore out 59 pairs. Along the way, he gave 150 lectures in schools, military units, enterprises and institutions, entitled "Dedicating a Strong Heart to My Motherland". In particular, he completed the whole journey through Qinghai-Tibet, Sichuan-Tibet, Xinjiang-Tibet, Yunnan-Tibet and China-Nepal Highway on foot for the first time, which is a feat that no one can match.

Yu Chunshun is from Shanghai, so it seems a pity that Shanghai TV station doesn't make a documentary for this explorer. So, after contacting with Chun Shun to discuss and agree, they filmed a documentary about hiking in Lop Nur, Xinjiang.

1On June 6th, 1996, Yu Chunshun and his party 10 set out from Korla and marched on Lop Nur. Song Jichang, director of Shanghai TV news documentary, led a five-person film crew and followed the whole process. In addition, the hired guides Zhao Ziyun and Peng Gexia, various equipment and materials provided by relevant departments and social circles in Bazhou, two Mercedes-Benz desert cars and two drivers provided by Xinjiang Petroleum Geophysical Exploration Bureau, equipped with walkie-talkies, 100 box of mineral water, 720 cans of eight-treasure porridge, 300 naan cakes, 400 kilograms of vegetables and 65,400 instant noodles donated by relevant departments and social circles in Korla. The film crew has three satellite navigators, and Bazhou Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources also provided a generator.

Since Yu Chunshun arrived in Korla on May 26th, public opinion has been created, and all kinds of news reports are flying all over the sky. Yu Chunshun's own "Walking Alone in Lop Nur and Tracking the Shooting Schedule of Shanghai TV Station" has also been printed, and the newspaper has also reported it in time. Therefore, Yu Chunshun is imminent and has to make a fortune.

On the afternoon of June 6th 1: 30, the ceremony of Yu Chunshun crossing Lop Nur was held in Loulan Hotel. The leaders of the local tourism bureau, PICC and the hotel presented red flowers for Yu Chunshun, and the Mongolian girls took turns toasting. People from all walks of life spoke in succession and wished Yu Chunshun a smooth crossing. Under the scorching sun, Yu Chunshun was sweating profusely. He's always a teetotaler. He drank several bowls of wine in one breath. He was flushed and excited. He stood in front of the microphone, tears streaming down his face. Facing more than 100 pairs of expectant eyes, Yu Chunshun once again said, "I will be able to cross smoothly and break the myth that I can't enter Lop Nur in June!"

Lop Nur is the first of the four uninhabited areas in China. What's to be afraid of?

In fact, Lop Nur was originally a large saltwater lake. The famous ancient Loulan country in Han Dynasty is located on the lakeside, and the ancient Silk Road is also westbound along the coast of Hubei. Later, things changed and turned upside down. After several changes, the lake dried up, leaving a desolate saline-alkali land. Lop Nur is a dry lake basin with an area of more than 5,000 square kilometers. Because it is located in the eastern edge of Taklimakan desert, it has been semi-desertified in the 1990 s due to the influence of moving desert. In a word, Lop Nur is a desolate and silent world. In addition, it is also a nuclear test site in New China, where the first atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb were successfully tested. This invisibly increases the mystery of Lop Nur. In addition, after the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States in the 1970s, satellite photos of the United States showed that Lop Nur had a huge ear shape, so it was also considered by some people as "the ear of the earth". However, this is only one-sided and not credible. Just as some people say that Kunlun Mountain has a geographical gate and Gangrenbo Qi Feng is the center of the world, there is no scientific basis.

In this way, Lop Nur is a barren desert. Low altitude, lack of oxygen and low temperature. It's not Qiangtang no man's land on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It's cold and oxygen-deficient, and there are many wild animals, which are very dangerous. On the other hand, Lop Nur, if you bring enough water and food, even if you live in it for several months, it will not be a problem. Lop Nur has no wild animals such as wolves and bears, so you won't be in danger.

So, why did Yu Chunshun die?

In fact, Lop Nur can't get in, it's June! The so-called "not entering Lop Nur in June" is not empty talk. At that time, scientist Peng also entered Lop Nur in June. As a result, he had an accident and has not disappeared yet. If you miss June, it is not a problem to enter Lop Nur in other months, especially in September and 10, when the autumn is crisp. Entering Lop Nur is not a problem at all.

Xinjiang is located in the northwest, and its climate is different from that in the central and eastern regions. Tarim basin is a special terrain with "three mountains and two basins". The temperature is high in summer, and the heat is not easy to dissipate. Lop Nur is an extremely arid area, with almost no rain all the year round, and the evaporation is as high as 300 cm. Here, water represents life. Without water, it is a dead end. Lop Nur is extremely hot in June, the temperature is as high as 50 degrees, and the surface sand temperature can reach 70 degrees, so it is easy to fry eggs. The hottest month in Lop Nur is June, not July. Therefore, no one dared to enter Lop Nur in June. It is precisely because of this that Yu Chunshun is determined to "go against the sky" and make a blockbuster, break the record and create greater glories.

Yu Chunshun is well prepared to cross the river this time, with all kinds of equipment for food and drink. He even said, "This opportunity is so good. If I can't cross the success, it must be my death! " In fact, Yu Chunshun has publicly said several times that the success rate of this crossing is 100%! The only drawback is that he can't use satellite navigation instruments. Later, it turned out that he was lost. He couldn't find water to replenish the lost water, and died of multiple organ failure due to dehydration. To put it bluntly, he died of thirst.

Where's Yu Chun's water? In fact, strictly speaking, this crossing is not called crossing. It runs through Lop Nur neither from north to south nor from east to west. It just started from the north, went deep into the middle of the lake, then turned back to the northwest, walked out of Lop Nur, and joined the big troops at the Qianjin Bridge on the Peacock River. This route was designed for him by Zhao Ziyun, the "king of the desert", and it is relatively safe. The Sino-American joint expedition also took this route. Moreover, Yu Chunshun also finished the whole journey ahead of schedule, and later returned by car, setting up a number of supply points along the way. Yu Chunshun personally buried water and food and made a mark. Trip 107km, embedded supply points10. Mineral water and beef jerky are well prepared, the route is smooth, and there are no wild animals. Later, after rescuers went deep into this route, they found that the buried food and water had tattoos. This shows that there are no wild animals in Lop Nur. Yu Chunshun died in his blue tent, his body intact, his clothes neatly folded, and there were no signs of fighting or animal bites. The forensic autopsy showed that he died of dehydration. Also, not far from the tent, there is a pit half a meter deep, which was dug before Chunshun's death. Unfortunately, there is no water here, and you can't find water if you dig 2 meters deep.

Then, Yu Chunshun is experienced in the field and has been hiking for eight years. This crossing is well prepared, and all kinds of equipment are complete. The crossing route has been gone ahead of schedule, and many materials have been buried along the way. Why did it die?

In fact, Yu Chunshun's death was both accidental and inevitable for two main reasons.

1, Yu Chunshun is not familiar with desert, desert geography and climate environment, and has never walked in the desert before.

Yu Chunshun has no hiking experience in desert, Gobi and desert. He used to walk in densely populated areas or places with roads, such as the Qinghai-Tibet line and the Sichuan-Tibet line. He just walked along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway and met pedestrians or passing cars along the way. In this way, you won't get lost, and you can ask for help in time when you encounter difficulties or dangers.

2. It is a coincidence that the sandstorm started in Lop Nur from 12. The sandstorm that day was very violent. The wind is sandwiched with yellow sand, the sky is dark, and the sun and the moon are dull. Sand and stones fly and cars are buried.

12 is the second day that Yu Chunshun crossed alone. He got lost in a rare sandstorm. He is not familiar with the desert climate and environment, and it is difficult to tell the direction and find the north in the sandstorm. There will be no cell phones. If you have a mobile phone, even if you can't call for help, you can turn on the compass to identify the direction so as not to get lost.

In fact, Yu Chunshun just turned a corner at the T-junction, went straight south without turning, and missed an important supply point. What Yu Chunshun thought at the last moment of his life is unknown to others, but he must have regretted it very much, made a hasty decision, refused other people's suggestions several times, and insisted on breaking the myth that "June is nothing but Lop Nur".

Tired of fame? Drive the ducks to the shelves? People's expectations are too high Add fuel to the fire? Yu Chunshun is afraid of betraying the love of so many people. He can only succeed, but he cannot fail. He can only go forward, not backward, and set himself too high a goal. These are the factors that led to his death.

Finally, Yu Chunshun overestimated himself and underestimated Lop Nur! Two words: underestimate the enemy!
