Brief introduction and detailed information of Nangan Island

As early as the mid-Northern Song Dynasty, the coastal residents of Changle and Lianjiang counties in Fujian had moved from the sea to south and north Gan Tang to engage in agriculture and fisheries. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the settlement had been formed and was quite prosperous. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, the policy of "sea ban" and "migration ruins" was implemented, and the residents of southern and northern Gan Tang moved inland, making the local area a desert island, so pirates and pirates often appeared. In the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the sea ban was opened, and the poor people along the coast of Fujian moved in one after another and tried their best to explore. By the end of the Ming Dynasty, the population density was still the same as before. In the early Qing Dynasty, the stricter sea ban and the policy of "moving to the border" forced the residents on the island to move and burn down their houses, making Gan Tang a forbidden place again. From the late Kangxi period, people moved in one after another. In Jiaqing 16, after pirates such as Cai Qian were eliminated, the coastal poor in Changle and Lianjiang counties moved to the island on a large scale to make a living.

19 19 (in the eighth year of the Republic of China), the coastal area of Changle county was invaded by typhoon and seawater, with 50,000 to 60,000 victims. In the following years, because the land was too salty to grow rice, the plague raged after the disaster, and refugees fled one after another, many of whom moved to Gan Tang.

1935 (in the 24th year of the Republic of China), the Baojia system was established in Mazu Islands, and the Ganxi Joint Insurance Office was located in Qiyancang, Beigantang (now Tangqi Primary School). Later, because of its wide jurisdiction, it was divided into Gan Tang and Xiyangbao. In 38 years of the Republic of China, the national army entered and set up "Mazu garrison headquarters" in Nangan, followed by battlefield administration. Lianjiang County was located in Nangan, and Nangan became the political and economic center of Mazu area. 1955 The five villages of Jinsha, Niu Jiao, Shanlong, Tieban and Xiwei in Nangan Township were renamed Jinsha, Fuxing, Jieshou, Renai and Siwei respectively. Fu 'ao Village was renamed Jingze Village on 1988, and its original name was changed back on 1992.

After the launch of the "mini three links" in 2000, Fuao Port became the port between Mazu area and Mawei, Fuzhou. The opening of Nangan Airport from June, 5438 to October, 2003/KLOC made Nangan a transportation hub in Mazu area.

Nangan Island is not only the largest island in Nangan Township, but also the largest island in Mazu Islands, formerly known as Nangantang and Mazu Island, with about 4,000 people actually living on the island.

Geographical environment: the total area of Nangan Island is 10.64 square kilometers, of which Nangan Island covers an area of 10.44 square kilometers. Except Huangguan Island, other uninhabited islands and coral reefs are small.

The topography of Nangan Island looks like a rhinoceros, with its head facing east. It is called Niu Jiao Village (now Fuxing Village) locally. The tail is in the west, called Xiwei Village (now Siwei Village). The terrain is mountainous, Yuntai Mountain is the main vein, and Niujiaoling and Niubeiling are distributed radially, separating countless Aokou settlements surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the sea on one side. Among them, Jieshou Village has the largest population and is also the seat of county administration. Fuao Port in Fuwo Village is the berthing dock of Taiwan Province Ma Lun and outlying island express, and the shipping center of Mazu.

Yuntai Mountain, the highest peak in Nangan Township, is 248 meters above sea level, which is the second highest peak in Mazu Islands (the highest is the wall mountain in Beigan Township).

Huangguan Island, alias "Waiguam", is located at the northeast end of South Island, about 300 meters away from South Island Airport, and its administrative area belongs to Fuxing Village. Oblique intersection is located about1200m southeast of Nangan Island. Beiquan Reef is located about 4.4 kilometers southeast of Nangan Island. Liuquan Reef, also known as Liuquan Reef, is located about 6.6 kilometers southeast of Nangan Island, and its administrative area belongs to Renai Village.

Climate Nangan Township is surrounded by the sea, belonging to a subtropical marine climate zone with four distinct seasons, with an average annual temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius. It is the hottest in July and August, and the absolute maximum temperature reaches 34 degrees Celsius. The coldest months are 1 and February, with a low temperature of 1.8 degrees. It is rainy and humid in spring and foggy from March to May. Rainfall is scarce, the seasonal distribution is uneven, and there are many droughts in autumn and winter. The dry season lasts for half a year, so it is necessary to transport water from Taiwan Province Island for emergency. During the rainy season from April to June and from July to September, typhoons often bring heavy rain, and the annual rainfall is about 1 1,000 mm.

Due to the influence of monsoon, the wind direction changes regularly with the seasons. South-south westerly wind and southwest wind are often blown in summer, and after autumn and winter, it is mostly north-north easterly wind or northeast wind. After winter, the monsoon often goes south with the cold air mass, and the wind is strong and cold.

The administrative divisions under Nangan Island include Jieshou Village (formerly known as Shanlong), Fuxing Village (formerly known as Niu Jiao), Fu 'ao Village, Qingshui Village (where the township government is located), Renai Village (formerly known as Tieban), Jinsha Village (formerly known as Jinsha), Zhuluo Village, Mazu Village and Siwei Village (formerly known as Xiwei).

There are many granite hills in Nangan Township, and the cultivated land is extremely limited. Fishery is the most important economic lifeline. 1949 After the separation and partition of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, Mazu area was placed under military control because of its strategic position, and a large number of soldiers were stationed. Nangan Township, like other administrative districts in the county, has become the main source of income for local residents by providing businesses and services for garrison consumption.

1992 after the lifting of the ban on battlefield government affairs, the former scene of "more soldiers than people" no longer existed, and Mazu economy once declined. At the end of 1999, Mazu Scenic Area was established, and Nangan Township and all parts of the county were successfully transformed into tourist islands with their traditional settlement buildings and precious historical resources of battlefield government affairs.

In terms of air traffic, Li Rong Airlines flies from Taipei Songshan Airport to Nangan Airport 8 times a day and to Beigan Airport more than 3 times a day, with a flight time of about 50 minutes. In addition, Li Rong's flight runs once a day between Taichung Airport and Nangan Airport, and the sailing time is about 70 minutes. If the weather is bad, the "south plane will descend to the north" will be implemented. After disembarking from Beigan Airport, passengers will take a bus to Baisha Pier, and then transfer to Nangan and Beigan transport boats every hour to go to Nangan Fuao Pier. The flight time is about 12 minutes.

In addition to air transportation, it is also another option to take six voyages from Keelung Port to Nangan every Saturday, with a voyage of about 1 14 nautical miles. Because the Taiwan-Malaysia ferry needs to dock at the East Approach and the South Pole, the flight arrangement is to sail to the South Pole first and then the East Approach in a single day; Two days later, it will go to Dongyin and then go to Nangan.

The transportation between Nangan Township and other administrative districts in the county is also mainly by sea. The boat between Nangan Island and Beigan Island sails eleven times a day, starting from Baisha Wharf of Fuao Wharf, with a voyage of about 12 minutes. Nangan travels to and from the east and west of Juguang Township three times a day, and then to the west and east once a month; It takes about 50 minutes to reach Dongju in bimonthly and then Xiju.
