How to prevent potted orchids from rotting roots?
1. culture medium
Orchid is a slightly acidic sandy soil with loose and fertile nature, rich humus and good drainage and permeability; 2 parts of loose and fertile forest humus soil, peat soil and pine needle soil, 2 parts of garden soil, pond mud, humus soil and burning garbage soil, 2 parts of decomposed high-quality farm compost, manure, green manure and livestock manure, 2 parts of river sand or coal ash, and decomposed broken peanut shells, sawdust and tree chips.
2. Pot planting
Orchids should be transplanted into flowerpots in spring or autumn. It is advisable to choose purple sand pots, glazed pottery pots, clay pots, earthen pots, plain burning pots or wooden pots, bamboo pots and rattan pots with good permeability and large bottom holes to plant orchids; You can also plant orchids in plastic pots, and it is better to introduce more exhaust holes around the wall of the pots. Use window screens or brown silk sheets to pad the drainage holes at the bottom of the basin, then put some soaked animal bones, hoof horns, shrimp and crab shells and 10 ~ 20 cooked fermented soybeans or peanuts as base fertilizers, and then fill them with culture soil for planting.
water
Orchids, in the growing season, should pay attention to timely watering, keep the basin soil dry and wet, avoid the basin soil being too dry and dehydrated for a long time, and don't let the basin soil be too wet and waterlogged for a long time, let alone let the basin soil accumulate water. Generally in spring and autumn, it is advisable to water once every 3 ~ 7 days; In summer and early autumn, it is advisable to water once a day or once every 1 ~ 2 nights; In winter and early spring, water should be poured every 10 ~ 15 days. In summer and autumn, it is advisable to spray mist on the leaves 2 ~ 3 times a day in the morning and evening. Orchids should be watered mainly when the soil is dry, that is, the water is permeable; Avoid the pot soil from being too wet for a long time, otherwise it will easily cause root rot.
top application
The top dressing of orchids should be mainly organic fertilizer, supplemented by chemical fertilizer. Attention should be paid to the scientific application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and timely application of phosphorus fertilizer will help orchids bloom more brightly and fragrant. Thin fertilizer should be applied frequently, and organic fertilizer should be fully decomposed before application. Avoid applying raw fertilizer and thick fertilizer, otherwise it will easily cause fertilizer damage and root rot. When the basin soil is hardened, loosen the soil before topdressing; When the soil in the basin is too wet, it is not suitable for topdressing. When topdressing, it is advisable to apply liquid fertilizer around the basin wall, and it is not advisable to let the fertilizer water pollute the leaves or buds; It is advisable to water it the next day after topdressing.
Orchids can be mixed with 20% calcium superphosphate water extract and 10% bone meal water extract in the thin decomposed chicken manure, kitchen waste, fishy smell or cake water extract during the growing season, and then watered 1 ~ 3 times a month. Top dressing is not needed in hot summer and cold winter. During the growth of orchids, 0. 1% urea aqueous solution and 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution can be used and sprayed on the leaves every 7 ~ 10 days. Spraying 0.2% ~ 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution on the leaves in bud stage, once every 5 ~ 7 days and continuously for 3 ~ 4 times.
Step 5 protect the environment
Orchids, avoid strong direct sunlight and close the environment; In the growing season, it should be kept in an environment with sufficient scattered light, good ventilation and air circulation. Can be maintained at the back of the house, patio, balcony, east or south facing windowsill. In sunny days, bamboo curtains, reed curtains, grass curtains and sunshade nets should be used to block about 85% of the sunshine, or under green sheds with good ventilation and sufficient scattered light or under forests and bamboo forests. During the rainy season, pay attention to rain. It is suitable for indoor activities in winter, placed in a well-lit place, and the temperature is kept above 10℃.
chessom
Orchids like loose and breathable culture soil. In the growing season of orchids, it is advisable to loosen the pot surface once a month, and the depth of loosening each time is about 1 ~ 5 cm. When loosening the soil, be careful not to damage the roots and new buds or buds of orchids. Before loosening the soil in March-April in spring and June-June in autumn 10 every year, part of decomposed and sieved dry animal manure, cake fertilizer leftovers, soil-burning miscellaneous fertilizers, compost, manure, etc., and 10% calcium superphosphate, salt-free bone meal, fish meal, eggshell powder, shrimp and crab shell powder, shell powder, etc. As a base fertilizer, it is good for orchids to be sprinkled on the soil surface of the basin. Then, loosen the soil. After loosening the soil, water it once, or water it once with thin rotten cakes or fishy water. (Some pictures are from online friends)
7. Turn over the pots and change the soil
Orchids usually turn once every 2-3 years, and in March-April in spring, the outside temperature is stable above 15℃. When the soil in the basin is dry, the orchid will be taken out of the basin with the soil and all the old soil will be replaced. It can be combined with pot turning to carry out ramet propagation and cut off old yellow leaves, dead leaves and roots.
To sum up, orchids are planted on loose and fertile substrates with rich organic matter and good drainage and air permeability; Don't water too much at ordinary times, and keep the soil slightly dry without losing water; Don't let it get wet in the rainy season; No raw fertilizer and concentrated fertilizer; When the basin soil is too wet, the basin soil is hardened and the temperature in Xia Dong is too low, there is no need for topdressing; Loosen the soil, turn over the basin and change the soil in time; Paying attention to the ventilation and light transmission of the environment and avoiding strong direct sunlight can effectively prevent orchids from rotting roots, which is conducive to the growth and flowering of orchids.
