Zhang's achievements

Zhang made a subtle interpretation of Tujia architecture and Tujia culture in his works such as Wuling Tujia, Old House-Tujia Diaojiao Building, Seven Treatises on Craftsman's Studies, Bashibean Hall, etc., and pointed out that Tujia Ba culture played a decisive role in the formation of Chinese culture and aroused strong repercussions at home and abroad. Co-published the monograph Old House-Tujia Diaojiao Building with Li Yuxiang, edited China Ethnic Architecture-Hubei Volume, and participated in The Complete Works of China Architectural Art, 23 Mansion Architecture and 4 Southern Ethnic Minorities Volume.

It has been used as the cover of Furong, a large literary magazine in Hunan Province for one year. Zhang wrote an introduction to the book and provided pictures of the article. The introduction is entitled "The Walk, Come and Present of Siheyuan-style Gan Lan". This book is a pioneering work that comprehensively introduces Tujia Diaojiao Building.

Wuling Tujia nationality

Wuling Tujia, Sanlian Bookstore, Beijing, 1, 20065438. Co-authored with Li Yuxiang, Zhang wrote an article and provided about 1/3 pictures. This book comprehensively introduces the mountains and rivers, caves, architecture, folk customs and history of Tujia nationality in Wuling, and puts forward the bold assumption that Tujia nationality is the source of Chinese culture for the first time. The book was praised by Mr. Wang Xuetai, an expert in literature and history, and even praised by Tujia scholars, which made a cultural development for the development of tourism in Tujia areas. This is the third printing.

Seven Theories of Craftsman's Learning

Seven Theories on Technology, China Building Industry Press, March 2002, 1 version. This book advocates writing books for the purpose of "conception", and divides the historical and theoretical problems of China architecture into seven aspects: banquet, dry fence, standard, geomantic omen, market-oriented, class hanging and vertical and horizontal, and puts forward its own views. The publication of this book has attracted wide attention from peers. Known as a book on architectural sinology (Chen Ganglun), a professional book with feelings (quoted by Li Xiaofeng on the Internet) and a book that pursues pure things (Luo Zhang and Zhao Yousheng), some people think that the book is "between engineering and sociology" (Wang Xuetai). The influence of this book has actually spread beyond the building.

Old gatehouse, People's Fine Arts Publishing House, 65438+February 2003, 1 edition. This book is divided into eight categories: memorial archway, stage, gatehouse, pavilion, ancestral hall, guild hall, mansion and academy, which are provided by the editors of "Ancient Style" series to photographers all over the world. Except for the gatehouse, the rest can be regarded as architectural types, and the gatehouse is just a bigger "component". The first seven categories have long been selected by scholars, but the term "gatehouse" is too narrow to be agreed. Finally, Zhang was appointed. As it happens, Zhang has some views on the guard room and is willing to accept this task. For example, buildings in China are divided into "doors", "orientations" and "opening and closing purposes". In the book, the author answers questions such as why China buildings open their doors with eaves and why Beijing quadrangles open their doors in the southeast corner, and criticizes the "gatehouse amnesia" of western architecture. This book, Narrow Topic and Wide Work, studies the "small" problem that many architectural historians have no time to glance at.

Bashibei house

"Bus Don't Pavilion", China Building Industry Press, May 2006.

June 1 edition. From the architect's point of view, the author has long felt that the source of China culture must be in the southwest, so this conclusion can be seen in his previous works "Wuling Tujia" and "Seven Theories on Craftsmanship". Writing Ba Shi Bie Guan is a comprehensive exposition of the viewpoint of the origin of Chinese civilization. This book discusses the history of Pakistan in the images of Guo Yong and China, the influence of salt on human civilization, the relationship between swamp development and the rise of civilization, and the influence of "Pan-Ba culture" on China and even the world culture, questioning the widely spread theory of the origin of Chinese civilization. I have done my duty as an architectural historian in China.
