Qi Baishi, a native of Changsha, Xiangtan, Hunan Province, is a master of modern Chinese painting and a world cultural celebrity. He made a living by selling paintings in his early years. Later, ink painting was bold, moist and lively, with masterpieces such as "A Thousand Miles of Mountain Springs" and "Ink Shrimp", which made ink painting a must. Qi Baishi's representative works include Frog Singing Shili Mountain Spring, Ink Shrimp and Twenty-four Scenes of Shimen. Qi Baishi (1863- 1957) is an outstanding contemporary painter, calligrapher and seal engraver. Originally named Qi Huang, Chunzhi, Wei Qing, Baishi, Diezhi, borrowing the owner of Yinshan Pavilion and seeing off the elderly, Twenty-four Scenes of Shimen is Qi Baishi's masterpiece of landscape painting, which was created on 19 10, 48 years ago.
Qi Baishi painted an ink painting for Lao She, a China writer, at the age of 9/kloc-0. Qi Baishi and Jiao Mo painted a mountain stream with walls on both sides, a swift stream in the middle and several azurite peaks in the distance. Six tadpoles were pulled into the water. Mother frog is at the other end of the mountain, and the frog's voice floats ten miles along the mountain stream. Qi Baishi's Ink Shrimp is one of Qi Baishi's mature aquatic works. There is neither water nor grass to set off the background. Qi Baishi wrote the structure, dynamics and transparent texture of shrimp with skillful brushwork and unique pen and ink embellishment.
The sixteen shrimps in Qi Baishi's shrimp picture are different in shape and lifelike, and the body painted in light ink is crystal clear.
