abstract
The last film of Olaf Si Tong's Vietnam War trilogy. It describes the bumpy fate of a Vietnamese girl in the war and her struggle after following her husband to the United States. It is based on the autobiography of a real person. ? 1949 Li Li was born in a small village in Vietnam. Although his family is poor, his family life is very happy. Li Li had a pure and happy childhood and youth, but with the outbreak of the Vietnam War, all this was shattered. ? During the Vietnam War, the villages in Li Li survived the attack of the southern government forces and the northern Viet Cong. Li Li was arrested and subjected to inhuman abuse because of being suspected of supporting the Viet Cong by government forces, but Li Li survived tenaciously. Because Li Li's mother bribed a government official to redeem Li Li, the Viet Cong suspected that Li Li was a traitor and betrayed the Viet Cong. Later, the Viet Cong tried to shoot Li Li. When the trigger was struck, the executioner raped Lili, and Lili was free. Li Li can no longer live in the village. She followed her mother as a servant in a wealthy businessman's house. During this period, because she fell in love with her master and became pregnant, she was driven away by Xiaosan. Later, Lili went to Saigon to take refuge in her sister, but because she couldn't stand her sister's decadent lifestyle, she lived alone and gave birth to a boy. Determined and stubborn, Lili did not give in to successive setbacks, but faced life more resolutely. Lili raised her children alone and lived a hard life on the meager income of selling private cigarettes and drugs around the US military camp every day. ? By chance, Lily met American soldier James. James fell in love with Lily at first sight, and Lily was moved by James' sincerity and accepted each other. They really loved each other and gave birth to two sons. On the eve of the Viet Cong's occupation of the whole territory, James rescued Lily and three children in time and returned to the United States to live a happy life together. Lili quickly adapted to and integrated into the local society during her stay in the United States and found a job. After returning home, James often argued with Li Li because he couldn't stand the pressure of work and spirit. Friction gradually emerged between the two, which eventually led to their divorce. Under the guidance of a monk, Li Li realized what happiness is. James was moved to tears when he wanted to remarry James, but he finally committed suicide, leaving Li Li to raise the children alone. ? 1986, Li Li returned to her hometown with her three sons to visit her surviving mother and sister-in-law. But my hometown has changed and things have changed. In the face of all this, Lili, who has experienced setbacks and experienced wind and frost, feels a lot. ? The film describes a Vietnamese country girl who struggled to survive in the war, then fell in love with an American officer and returned to the United States to settle with him. In the end, she built her own business in the United States and returned to her hometown to help her family after Vietnam opened up.
Behind the scenes production
This is the last chapter of Si Tong's Vietnamese trilogy, which changed from the western male perspective to the eastern female perspective in the first two works. Hiep Thi Le, the new comer, starred in the movie and gave a shocking performance. Beautiful rural photography (location is Thailand) and?
Kitaro's beautiful soundtrack also increased the popularity of this film. As far as the starting point is concerned, the first two films both look at the Vietnam War from the perspective of Americans, and the protagonists are full of anger, while this one looks at the problem from the perspective of Vietnamese with a warm and tolerant attitude. The movie is too ambitious, and sometimes it is like a runaway wild horse, which is difficult to control. ? Oliver stone, the director, won the Oscar for Best Director twice for his two Vietnam War movies "Wild Platoon" and "Born on July 4th". His "Heaven and Earth" is based on the autobiography of American Vietnamese "Swap the Place of Heaven and Earth" and "Son of War, Mother of Peace". It is not a war film, but a biography. ? It's a movie that focuses on women's life. This film is based on a true story. The director's lens gives people a sense of atmosphere, especially the panoramic shooting technique is used in many places in the film, overlooking the whole world and between heaven and earth, diluting the original rough American narrative style and showing the texture of a certain picture. ? Oliver Si Tong dedicated Heaven and Earth to his mother-it seems that he owes money to pay back his previous works because he lacks respect for his children and parents-and the maternal voice in it sounds embarrassing. Riley's mother set a strong example and saved her daughter's life. At the critical moment, she miraculously escaped from the gate of hell. In the film, the mother's last farewell wishes to her daughter push the story to a climax? ……? In a rice-rich village in central Vietnam, the Feng family gave birth to a girl named Li Li. Like other locals, she lives an equal life. Her father is heaven and her mother is the earth. But from childhood, she began to experience the devastation of war and the magical difficulties of life. Unexpectedly, fate arranged for her to be displaced to a place called America. What she didn't expect was that Major Steele Butler, who brought her here, changed her enthusiasm and thoughtfulness in Vietnam and became a completely different person ... The film was adapted from Ms. Li Li's autobiography. Prior to this, the director had published two works on the theme of Vietnam War, Pai and Born on July 4th. Many people worry that this third film will be redundant, and the director himself wants to prove that the three films will be a whole that echoes each other from beginning to end.
