How to adjust white balance
? The so-called white balance is the restoration of white objects by the camera. When we look at the world with naked eyes, we feel the same color under different light. For example, when the sun rises in the morning, we look at a white object and think it is white. And when we see a white object in the dim light at night, we think it is still white. This is because the human brain has adapted to the color reproduction of objects in different light during its growth after birth. But as a camera, it has no adaptability to human eyes. Under different lighting conditions, due to the imbalance of CCD output, the color of the camera is distorted: the image is either blue or red, as shown in the figure.

The so-called color temperature, in short, is to use Kelvin temperature to quantitatively represent color. When an object is heated to a certain temperature by an electric lamp or the sun, it will emit certain light, which contains not only brightness components, but also color components. The higher the color temperature, the more blue components and the bluer the image. Conversely, the lower the color temperature, the more red components, and the image will be reddish. Therefore, if the light that illuminates an object changes, its reflected color will also change, and this change will be reflected in the camera, which will produce different color reduction phenomena under different light. Question 2: Adjustment of White Balance The English name of white balance is white balance. The color of the object will change due to the color of the projected light, and the photos taken under different light conditions will have different color temperatures. For example, a photo taken under the illumination of tungsten lamp (light bulb) may be yellow. Generally speaking, CCD can't automatically correct the change of light like human eyes. In black and white photography, there is no concept of white balance. This concept is the color cast caused by the influence of color temperature in color photography. Color film solves the problem of white balance by introducing film in various environments (for example, it is suitable for outdoor daylight; Tungsten lamp, incandescent lamp, etc. Indoor or at night ... all kinds of movies). We all know that white light is made up of seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple, and these seven colors are made up of red, green and blue in different proportions. When the proportion of the three primary colors of a beam of light is the same, it is customarily called achromatic, and the light reflected by black, white, gray, gold and silver is achromatic. The public's understanding of white is brightness without color components. The white or other colors seen by human eyes are related to the inherent color of the object, the color temperature of the light source, the reflection or transmission characteristics of the object, the visual perception of human eyes and many other factors (please refer to the principles of chromatics). For a simple example, when colored light illuminates an achromatic object, the color of the reflected light of the object is the same as the color of the incident light, that is, the white object is red when illuminated by red light. When two or more colored lights illuminate the achromatic object at the same time, the colors of the object show additive effect. When colored light shines on a colored object, the color of the object decreases. For example, yellow objects appear red under magenta light, green under cyan light, and gray or black under blue light.
Another very important concept, DD color temperature, should be clarified before understanding white balance. The so-called color temperature, in short, is expressed quantitatively by Kelvin temperature (K). Kelvin, a famous British physicist, believes that if a blackbody substance can absorb all the heat falling on it without loss and release all the energy generated by heat in the form of "light", then it will become different colors due to the level of heat. For example, the thermal stress on the black body will turn dark red when it is equivalent to 500-550℃, yellow when it reaches1050-1150℃, and blue when the temperature continues to rise. The color composition of the light source corresponds to the thermal temperature of the blackbody, and the color temperature of any light is equivalent to the "temperature" when the blackbody emits the same color. This temperature is used to indicate that a certain color light is different from other characteristics, that is, the color temperature. In the process of striking iron, black iron gradually turns red in the furnace temperature, which is the best example of blackbody theory. Color temperature phenomenon is very common in daily life, and I believe people are no strangers to it. Tungsten lamp is yellow because of its low color temperature, and different street lamps also emit different colors. The flame of natural gas is blue because of its high color temperature. The color temperature of cloudless blue sky in Wan Li is about 10000 K, that of cloudy days is about 7000~9000 K, that of sunny days is about 6000 K, that of sunrise or sunset is about 2000 K, and that of candlelight is about 1000 K. At this time, we can easily find a rule: the higher the color temperature, the bluer the light; The lower the color temperature, the redder it is. When the color temperature of a certain color light is higher than other colors, it means that the color light is bluer than other colors, and vice versa; Similarly, when the light of one color is bluer than the light of other colors, it means that the color temperature of this color light is higher, and vice versa.

When the actor is illuminated by fluorescent light, it will turn blue when taking pictures; Objects illuminated by incandescent lamps are colored with yellow tones. Incandescent lamp: this mode is usually represented by a small light bulb, which is usually used for indoor shooting to cool the color in the photo. Fluorescent lamp: Compensate for the cold light and make the light you photograph warm. Daylight: Not all digital cameras have this setting, because it is a very normal white balance setting. Cloudy: Generally, this setting can compensate for warm colors more than daylight mode. Flash: The flash of a camera is very cold light. Turn on this mode when you turn on the flash. Holography makes your photography warmer. Shadow: Shooting in shadow is colder than direct sunlight, so this mode will make your photos warmer. Using the preset white balance settings, you will get very accurate results in many cases. But some more advanced digital cameras can set manual white balance to make your colors more accurate. This method is usually realized by telling the camera what is true white in the current situation.
Question 7: How to accurately adjust the white balance of SLR? First, take a picture of a pure white object, which can be a white wall, white paper and a white balance board (this thing is available online). People call the temperature of displaying different colors color temperature, and define the hue of visible light by this standard. Under different lighting conditions, the color of the target will change. In this respect, people are most sensitive to the change of white objects: under the indoor tungsten lamp, white objects will look orange, and the scenery photographed under such lighting conditions will look pale yellow; But if it is under the blue sky, there will be a blue tone. The scenery taken under such lighting conditions will be blue. In order to minimize the influence of external light on the target color, the original color of the target can be restored under different color temperature conditions, which requires digital cameras to correct the color to achieve the correct color balance. White objects reflect all the visible spectrum, so digital cameras set this as the standard. When manually adjusting the white balance, the white balance mechanism will try to modulate other colors other than pure white into a certain range of pure white. If this part is yellow, it will strengthen the blue to reduce the yellow in the picture, so as to obtain a more natural color. Digital cameras can correctly restore other colors of white objects under the same lighting conditions as long as they correctly restore the white objects when shooting them. So it's called white balance adjustment. It can be divided into automatic adjustment and manual adjustment. Manual adjustment is more accurate and the adjustment range is wider. Traditional cameras rely on different films (sunlight type, illumination type) or different color filters to achieve correct color balance.
In order to get more correct color reproduction, it is necessary to adjust the manual white balance under the light source of the shooting scene. Specific operation: If there is a pure white object (such as a pure white wall) in the shooting scene, aim the lens at it to make it fill the camera viewfinder and adjust the manual white balance (different machines have different adjustment methods, please refer to the manual, and generally press and hold the manual white balance button 1-2 seconds to complete the system prompt). See what happens to the screen (SLR digital cameras can't see the adjustment effect immediately)? If there is no pure white object in the shooting scene, it is best to bring a piece of white paper to adjust the white balance, but it must be done in the light of the shooting scene.
