Photoshop uses ACR to correct lens aberration.

Have you ever taken a photo with a big distortion and purple edges? In fact, you only need to use the lens correction function in Adobe Camera RAW that comes with Ps, and these problems can be improved in a few steps.

In the photos taken by ordinary wide-angle zoom lens, the lines that should be straight at the edge of the picture are bent due to distortion, and the white window frame has purple edges. At the same time, because of carelessness in shooting, the picture is a bit skewed. These are very common questions.

Standard zoom lenses, especially high-power zoom lenses, are often notorious for barrel distortion at the wide-angle end and pillow distortion at the medium and telephoto ends. Ultra-wide-angle zoom lenses are also more prone to barrel distortion, but this is completely unexpected.

The telephoto zoom lens is relatively difficult to deform. The shooting menu of some SLR cameras provides the option of automatically correcting distortion, but it is only effective when the image quality is set to JPEG.

When shooting in RAW format, necessary adjustments will be marked in the image file and stored in the RAW file. If you use the camera manufacturer's own software, these settings will be automatically called when you post-process the RAW file. In addition, these automatic adjustment functions are usually only applicable to the use of lenses produced by camera manufacturers themselves.

Another option is to shoot in RAW format, and then correct the distortion when converting to JPEG files in the camera through the options in the play menu. In order to gain greater versatility, especially when you use lenses produced by independent manufacturers, such as Sigma, Longteng or Tuli, it is best to use Adobe Camera Raw plug-in provided by the new version of Photoshop, which supports intelligent distortion correction. However, Photoshop Elements, which simplifies the camera's original data plug-in, cannot directly process the original data file.

The following three steps can guide you to learn how to do distortion, dispersion and horizontal correction in PhotoshopCS6.

1 Select preset

Click the lens selection button of Photoshop's Camera Raw plug-in, and then click the preset list. Check the preset correction file of the loaded lens to automatically correct distortion and vignetting.

2 Eliminate chromatic aberration

To remove the purple or green edge of a photo, you can select the Color tab and check the box "Eliminate chromatic aberration". Zoom in to see the edges and corners of the Gao Fancha area on the screen, and then adjust the slider.

3 Manual adjustment

Under the "Manual" tab, you can set the correction amount of distortion and vignetting, and also correct the perspective effect in vertical and horizontal directions, which can simulate the effect of using shift lens to some extent.
