Early experience
Roman was born in his grandparents' mansion in Pavlovsk town on the outskirts of St. Petersburg and grew up in Moscow. At that time, only a few Jews had the right to live in Moscow. Roma was born because his father Solomon Vishnyake was a rich local umbrella manufacturer and his mother Manya was the daughter of a diamond merchant. Solomon also has a sister, Katja. Because of the sultry and uncomfortable summer in Moscow, Vishnu will leave the area in summer and return to their mansion a few miles outside the city.
As a child, Roman Vishniac was fascinated by biology and photography. His room is always full of plants, insects, fish and small animals. On his seventh birthday, Roma got a microscope from his grandmother. Roma quickly learned the camera function of operating the machine, and began to photograph cockroach foot muscles with magnification of 150 times. Young Vishnu often observes and photographs anything he can find with a microscope, from dead insects, animal scales and pollen to single-celled animals.
Vishnu taught himself at home until he was ten; At the age of ten to seventeen, he entered a private school and won a gold medal in his academic performance. Starting from 19 14, he spent six years in suyavsky college (now a university) in Moscow.
