Creative background

The film is adapted from the historical novel of the same name written by history enthusiast Mitani himself. It is his first novel 17 years after the publication of "Dagensing". The novel is based on the "Qingzhou Conference" that actually existed in history. It revolves around the issue of the successor after the death of the Sixth Heavenly Demon King Oda Nobunaga, and tells an interesting story of the intrigues between the two giants, Shibata Katsuie and Hashiba Hideyoshi. Adapting a novel into a movie seems to be a process of re-creation and deepening for director Mitani. It is his first attempt at a historical drama, but it does not focus on killing and looting on the battlefield.
