1. Before shooting, you should know the sunset time and the position of the sun in the sky at sunset at any time according to the seasonal changes, so as to arrive at the specific place in advance and prepare for composition.

Step 2 use a tripod. You'd better shoot the sunset with a tripod. After arriving at the shooting position, set up a tripod, set up the camera and shoot again. It is best to use a hood to avoid photo halo.

3. Pay attention to metering. The light changes rapidly at sunset, so the exposure value should be measured continuously according to the changing light, and the exposure should follow the principle of underexposure rather than overexposure. When shooting the sunset glow, due to the uneven light distribution and large contrast, the metering method should be spot metering, and the metering point should be the clouds on the side of the sun.

4. Set the shooting mode of the camera to m, and set the exposure parameters according to the data of spot metering (in manual exposure mode, Nikon camera sets the exposure parameters by adjusting the shutter speed or aperture value according to the exposure indicator light in the viewfinder), which can avoid the trouble of exposure locking in other exposure modes.

When shooting the sunset glow, I didn't have time to look at the photos carefully because of the short shooting time. It is advisable to take more photos with different exposure combinations, and then you can choose more satisfactory photos from them to avoid missing the beautiful scenery and leaving regrets.

6. If you want to capture the radiation effect of the sun, use an aperture of F 16, F22 or smaller; If you want to highlight the image of the sun in the picture, you can use a long focal length lens to shoot.
