The Behind-the-scenes Story of Shijiazhuang Liberation

After 60 years, it's time to decrypt blockbuster. The TV documentary "Shijiazhuang under the Focus Plane of 1947" jointly shot by the Propaganda Department of Shijiazhuang Municipal Committee, Shijiazhuang Daily and the Management Office of Shuangfeng Mountain Revolutionary Cemetery in Hebei Province has been completed. Shijiazhuang is the first liberated big city. It is precisely because of the film team of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region established by Nie, commander of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region, that the real image of Shijiazhuang was captured. There is no film team in the Jinchaji Military Region. 1946, Wang Yang, a filmmaker in Shanghai, came to the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region. Commander Nie ordered him to receive "Man Ying" film equipment and a group of technicians supported by Northeast Film Company and set up a film team. "Manying" was originally a Manchu film studio established by the Japanese in Changchun, the puppet Manchukuo. War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression was accepted by our party. When the Japanese army retreated, 20 Japanese technicians were left behind. Manying was renamed Northeast Film Studio, which was later changchun film studio.

After the film team was established, the team members put simple equipment on a carriage and shuttled between the troops to show movies for the soldiers. The film crew has an Em camera, which is made in America, and the team members also use it to shoot some battlefield scenes. At that time, film was very scarce and they didn't want to use it. Even such a big historical event as the liberation of Shijiazhuang was only filmed for dozens of minutes.

The filming of the liberation campaign in Shijiazhuang was an important task of the film crew at that time. After the liberation of Shijiazhuang, the documentary "Liberation of Shijiazhuang" was dubbed for the first time and became the first war documentary with sound.

When Shijiazhuang was liberated, the third and fourth columns of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Field Army were the main attack, and Su Heqing followed the third column. The head of the army only allowed him to shoot at the regimental headquarters. But Su Heqing said that he also went to the Soviet battlefield and should go to the front. He went to the company. In Su Heqing's lens, there is not only a battlefield filled with smoke, but also a scene in which the masses support the front line.

Not just deep into the front line. Most of the battles against Shijiazhuang were fought at night. It is not easy to shoot the midnight battle with simple equipment, and the film sensitivity is poor. It is necessary to take pictures of soldiers fighting in the rain of bullets.

The realistic version of "Liberation of Shijiazhuang" was shot by the older generation of filmmakers at the risk of their lives. However, Su Heqing, who was nearly ninety years old that year, regretted that there were too few scenes to liberate Shijiazhuang, especially the scene where Liu Ying was captured alive.

After the founding of New China, this "blockbuster" recording the liberation of Shijiazhuang was put in the film library of a film studio. Over time, the film got stuck and aged. Half a century later, few people know about it.

Wang Zhanjun came across the news of such a film, but he didn't know where to find it. In fact, such a precious documentary that has been shelved in the movie library can be preserved to this day without rescuers. Her name is Wang Chen, a soldier of the film team of the former Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region. She has deep feelings for this film. 1996, when Shijiazhuang was about to celebrate the 50th anniversary of liberation, Wang Chen, an 80-year-old man, spent all his time in the movie library. She searched from piles of unlabeled films, even from baskets of film rubbish, and finally sorted out the films and restored them.

Touching the fiery history 60 years ago again and again, and entering the hearts of the witnesses again and again, Wang Zhanjun has a belief: as a Shijiazhuang native and a senior reporter, he has the responsibility to bring this documentary back to Shijiazhuang, bring it to the audience and tell the story behind it, which contributed to the shooting of Shijiazhuang under the focus plane of 1947.
