What is the main purpose of Moscow International Film Festival?

brief introduction

In the early days, the Moscow Film Festival mainly encouraged films from the former Soviet Union and communist countries, but after the disintegration of the former Soviet Union, the film festival began to extend outward and gradually became one of the important film festivals in Asia. Before 1985, 1-3 films were selected and awarded the St. George Gold Award every year, which was reduced from 1987 to 1, making it the second oldest film festival in the world, second only to the Venice Film Festival. Moscow Film Festival was founded in 1935, and is held every two years from 1959 to 1995, and once a year from 1995. Russian director Nikita Mikhakov has been the president of Moscow Film Festival since 2000.
