How to distinguish between true and false periodicals

How to distinguish between true and false periodicals;

First, the periodical level.

According to the current classification methods and different standards, periodicals can be divided into: Chinese core periodicals and non-core periodicals; National periodicals and provincial periodicals; Academic journals and general journals.

1. Core journals and non-core journals: There are two authoritative versions of the definition of Chinese core journals in China. One is the Annual Citation Report of China Sci-tech Journals published by China Institute of Sci-tech Information; The other is the Outline of Chinese Core Journals jointly edited and published by Peking University Library and Peking University Library Journal Work Research Association.

2. National periodicals and provincial periodicals: National periodicals refer to periodicals sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council and their subordinate departments or China Academy of Sciences, China Academy of Social Sciences, democratic parties and national people's organizations, as well as periodicals sponsored by national professional societies. Provincial periodicals refer to periodicals sponsored by provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government and their subordinate ministries, commissions, departments and bureaus, and journals (periodicals) sponsored by institutions of higher learning.

It should be noted that the classification of periodicals does not come from the state administrative department. So far, the General Administration of Press and Publication has never classified periodicals according to their academic level.

Second, the CN serial number

The serial number of CN consists of the letter "CN", 6 digits and classification number, where CN is the country name code of China, the first 2 digits are the regional code of the publication, and the last 4 digits are the serial number of the regional continuous publication. The classification number and serial number are separated by "/",and there is no classification number of newspapers in China at present. Periodicals are classified according to the basic categories of China Library Classification (4th Edition). For example, the serial number of Reader magazine is CN62-118/z, 62 is the area code of Gansu Province, 1 165438 is the serial number of Gansu Province, and the classification number Z indicates that the magazine is a comprehensive publication.

The area codes of periodicals in provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government are as follows: 1 1 Beijing 12 Tianjin 13 Hebei 14 Shanxi 15 Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region 2 1 Liaoning 22 Jilin 23 Heilongjiang 3/kloc-0. 2 Hubei 43 Hunan 44 Guangdong 45 Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region 46 Hainan 50 Chongqing 5 1 Sichuan 52 Guizhou 53 Yunnan 54 Xizang Autonomous Region 6 1 Shaanxi 62 Gansu 63 Qinghai 64 Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region 65 Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The first digit in the CN serial number is the first digit of the administrative region code of China. For example, the first digits of the administrative region codes of five provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in North China are 1, two in Northeast China, three in East China, four in Central China, five in Southwest China, six in Northwest China, seven in Taiwan Province Province and eight in Hong Kong. From the first digit of the CN serial number, we can determine the region where the publication belongs. From the first two digits of the CN serial number, we can determine the province to which the publication belongs. Thus, the domestic issue number of China Education Research is CN98-03 15/G4, and the international issue number is ISSN 1727-0499. Because the first two "xx" numbers are 98, which are not in the range of 1 1 to 65, they are not the serial numbers approved by the national publishing administrative department, but illegal publications.

The last four digits of the CN serial number are the serial numbers of the serial publications in this area. The serial number range of domestic serial publications in all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government is 000 1-9999, in which 000 1-0999 is the newspaper serial number, 1000-5999 is the printing serial number, and 6000-8999 is the network serial number, 9009.

Third, illegal periodicals.

1, category of illegal publications:

(1) Publications without serial numbers. This is an easy-to-identify illegal publication, which has neither international and domestic serial numbers nor internal quasi-confirmation numbers.

(2) publications with false serial numbers. For example, the publication number of Education and Teaching in China is CN98- 18 13/G, which is fabricated at will and does not exist at all.

(3) publications with false serial numbers. In order to deceive readers and authors, some illegal publications use the serial numbers of other publications, and it is difficult to distinguish the authenticity of publications from the authenticity of serial numbers, so they must be inquired.

(4) Illegal publications with overseas serial numbers. Some illegal periodicals only have international serial numbers or are labeled with NR or HK, that is, Hong Kong serial numbers, which are registered overseas and published, printed and distributed in China, such as ISSN 1726-64 16, CN03-4383/HK.

(five) publications that completely use the names and numbers of other publications. This illegal publication is like a "deck car". Cover style, publication name, serial number and other information are as deceptive as legal publications and difficult to distinguish.

(6) Use invalid periodical numbers. After the name change of the law journal, the original domestic unified serial publication number was invalid and ceased to be used. Therefore, some illegal periodicals are published by using the suspended serial numbers.

2, the characteristics of illegal publications:

(1) Charge the contributors for publishing fees, review fees, etc.-this is the purpose of illegal publications.

(2) The quality of paper and printing is poor, and small print is often used. There are too many articles in a single publication, and the typesetting style is rough. The pictures used in publications are out of date and lack aesthetic feeling. Of course, there are also a few illegal publications with high paper and printing quality.

(3) The name of the publication is quite different from the content of the published article; The quality of the articles is not high, the length is similar, there are many articles and the magazines are very thick; Articles contained in periodicals are concentrated in a certain field or published by some universities; The publication is international, and almost all the articles published are domestic.

(4) The address of illegal publications is mostly the mailbox of a post office, and the email address is mostly the free email provided by well-known websites. For example, non-existent organizations such as the World Chinese Media Association have established websites and listed all their illegal publications as the so-called "core journals of the World Chinese Media Association".

3. Identification method

(1) Log on to the website of China General Administration of Press and Publication through the website of China General Administration of Press and Publication for online query, enter the media name in the query column of news organizations, and select the media category to search. If it is an official publication, it will display the relevant information of the periodical; If it is an illegal publication, it will show that "the periodical you inquired is not found in the periodicals currently published in Chinese mainland and approved by the General Administration of Press and Publication!" Words.

(2) Inquiring about China Periodical Network through China Periodical Network has collected most domestic publications and documents, and it can be concluded that this periodical is not another one through this online inquiry.

(3) If you find the publication suspicious by observing the information on the copyright page, you can inquire through the information on the copyright page. In addition, you can also inquire through the university or editorial department where the publication is located and the publishing management department where the publication is located.

Matters needing attention

Published papers should be published in magazines with official numbers. At present, there are several misunderstandings in the author's publishing papers: misunderstanding one, publishing in a collection of papers. Papers compiled by some institutions in various names have no official serial numbers, and they are often not graded when promoted to professional titles. Myth 2, published in magazine supplements and other collections. Some official publications will also publish supplements, supplements, special issues and albums. Even though these publications are widely known, they are sometimes not recognized.
