The theme light show of "Welcome the Asian Games and Celebrate the Lantern Festival" in Qianjiang New Town is divided into three chapters: Welcome the Asian Games in the Year of the Rabbit, Charm Hang Cheng, Energetic Lantern Festival, and Fireworks in Full Bloom, and the future can be expected.
The first chapter, "Year of the Rabbit, Welcome to the Asian Games", begins with a festive red color. Hairy rabbits suddenly appear, and Hangzhou cultural context signs such as Liangzhu, Canal and West Lake appear one after another with the Asian Games venues, and then the colors of the Asian Games surge, showing Hangzhou's diverse cultural scenes in an all-round way and showing the expectation of welcoming the Asian Games.
The second chapter, "Charming Hang Cheng, Vibrant Lantern Festival", takes traditional festival elements as the keynote, depicts the beauty of the West Lake under the bright moon and the interest among lotus leaves with light and shadow, wishes good luck with riddles, sends a reunion with bowls of dumplings, and sends sincere wishes to citizens and friends. The third chapter "Fireworks in full bloom, the future can be expected": ending with fireworks, blooming the most beautiful colors and the best expectation for the future.
The significance of fireworks display
It is a custom to set off fireworks on the Lantern Festival. Its moral is to celebrate reunion, harmony and beauty. Lantern Festival is one of the traditional festivals in China, Chinese character cultural circle and overseas Chinese. Lantern Festival mainly includes a series of traditional folk activities, such as watching lanterns, eating glutinous rice balls, solve riddles on the lanterns and setting off fireworks. In addition, in many places, traditional folk performances, such as playing dragon lanterns, playing lions, walking on stilts, boating, yangko dancing and playing Taiping drums, have all joined the Lantern Festival.
The formation of Lantern Festival custom has a long process. According to general data and folklore, the fifteenth day of the first month was paid attention to in the Western Han Dynasty. On the night of the first month, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty offered sacrifices to "Taiyi" in Ganquan Palace, which was regarded by later generations as the first sacrifice to the gods on the fifteenth day of the first month. However, the Lantern Festival on the fifteenth day of the first month is indeed a folk festival after the Han and Wei Dynasties, and the custom of burning lanterns on the fifteenth day of the first month is related to the spread of Buddhism to the east.
