How to maintain the lens
1. Most camera lenses have two lens covers: one for the front and the other for the back. When not using the lens, make sure that the front cover is always open. So is the back cover. In addition, as long as you take the lens out of the camera, please cover it immediately. This is essential if you want the lens to help you take good photos. Gold electrical contacts should always be kept clean.
2. Some photographers like to use skylight or protective filter (UV) to protect the lens. The filter is placed in front of the lens. This filter can protect the lens from dust, stains, dirt and fingerprints. If the camera accidentally touches a hard surface (such as a table or a wall), your lens will also be protected. Protective filters can also protect lenses from weather-related factors. When you plan to use special effects filters, only remove the protection filters.
3. If you think that placing the protective filter will affect the photo quality, please put it on the old camera for practice before using it (if any). This will let you know what needs to be adjusted so that you can take high-quality photos even with protective filters.
4. Be sure to use a clean wet cloth in the camera bag. This is especially useful when you need to change the lens. Before removing and replacing the lens, please wipe the dust off the lens with a cloth. Put on another lens at once, so that dust can't get in. Otherwise, please cover the camera immediately.
It's also a good idea to have a lens care kit. This is actually better than using wet cloth alone. The kit contains a double-sided brush that looks like a brush. One end of the brush is a foam eraser, which can be used to remove stains on the lens.
6. In addition to the brush, the kit also contains cleaning solution, cotton swab, special lens cloth and spherical blower (to push air through the lens).
7. Do not use general cleaning solution on the filter. There are solutions for camera filters and lenses, such as cameras in lens care kits. The universal cleaner may only harm the filter and lens.
8. If you plan to take your camera with you when traveling, especially when driving, please put everything in a hard box as much as possible. The chassis should be placed on the car seat, not on the floor, it will absorb all the vibration and impact of the engine.
9. The correct storage of camera lenses needs to consider many things. As mentioned before, the camera bag should be hard-shell if possible. This provides a lot of protection. Some photographers even put their cameras in strong bags and then put them in them. Others wrap their cameras in lint-free materials to prevent dust and reduce scratches.
10. Choose a camera bag with partition to store extra lenses and equipment. There are also camera backpacks that can use long straps and multiple compartments, especially when traveling.
1 1. Put the camera bag or case in a place where it is not directly exposed to the sun. It should also stay away from radiators. Please don't store the camera bag in a damp place or room.
12. Your camera lens filter should also be stored properly. To do this, use a hard-edged plastic container. However, if you move and travel frequently, it is recommended that you use both hard shell and soft shell filters. The solid shell is used to store the lens in the hotel room, and the soft bag is used to carry the filter with you.
13. If you live by the sea or where you live is wet, dumped or wet, please invest in digital cabinets, because this is the best way to protect your lenses from harmful elements such as fungi. Due to dust, humidity and insufficient light, lens fungi can breed. The digital cabinet is temperature-controlled, so your camera, lens and filter are all safe in it. If you can't afford a digital filing cabinet, make a "drying box" yourself. Buy a cheap airtight transparent plastic container and add some silicone. The bigger the DIY drying oven, the more camera equipment you can put.
14. Finally, take care of your camera and lens. Observe what you are doing and always hold your equipment. Although it seems obvious-don't drop the camera or lens. You can still use your equipment after you fall, but some of your things may be damaged-we all know that photographic equipment may be expensive.
How to clean the lens
Here are five steps to clean the lens.
1. Release the lens gently. Depending on your camera type or brand, there may be a release button available for this function.
2. Use a hair dryer (in the lens care kit) to blow off all dirt and dust on the lens.
3. Apply lens liquid with a clean paper towel.
4. Wipe the lens gently. Your direction should be towards the center of the lens.
5. Reinstall the lens slowly. If you do not intend to use the camera or lens after cleaning, please cover the lens.
