Brief introduction to Philadelphia story

Philadelphia Story is a comedy film about love triangle, divorce and reunion. It is a very typical and popular movie theme from 1930 to 1940s. However, the reason why this film is regarded as a masterpiece of contemporary and later generations is that the director, screenwriter, three leading actors and two supporting actors have outstanding overall performance, and the psychological and interactive descriptions of the characters in the play are delicate and vivid.

Philadelphia socialite Tracy (katharine hepburn) and her ex-husband Dick (gary grant) are getting divorced and getting remarried. On the eve of the wedding, Dick visited Tracy's family with Detective magazine columnist Macaulay (played by James Stewart) and a female photographer Liz (played by Ruth Hussey), and met Tracy's gossipy father and sister. As a result, a series of confessions of affection and love are unfolded in the verbal confrontation of humor and irony in the film. While calmly guarding Tracy, Decatur revealed his deep affection in cynicism. Macaulay's cynicism towards high society made him fall in love with Tracy unconsciously. Before the wedding, her fiance George expressed her views on marriage as sacred as Tracy. How should she choose? After a multi-angle love contest, Tracy realized the true meaning of love, and the end point is also the starting point.
