Meng Xiangzhen was born in March 1934 in Haicheng, Liaoning. Professor level senior engineer. Graduated from Northeast Institute of Technology, now known as Northeastern University. He once served as the director of two laboratories, Rock Breaking and Blasting, in the Rock Breaking Laboratory of the School of Resources and Civil Engineering. This paper studies the experimental system of mining specialty, and takes the lead in compiling the Experiment of Rock Fragmentation in China, and also edits the Experiment of Rock Drilling and Blasting for teaching practice. Because of the outstanding achievements in experimental reform, he was rated as an advanced individual in laboratory work in the province from 1983 to 1985; In 1989, he won the first prize of provincial excellent teaching achievement. The rock crushing laboratory led by him won the second prize of excellent teaching achievements of the Ministry of Metallurgy in 1985; In 1986, it was rated as the advanced collective of national university laboratory system. Two new courses, "Testing Technology and Junior High School" and "Application of Measuring Instruments", were taught to graduate students. He has worked in the fields of mining engineering, drilling, blasting and rock crushing for many years, and has participated in dozens of research projects, among which "rock drillability classification" won the first prize of major scientific and technological achievements of the Ministry of Metallurgy, "impact drilling theory and computer calculation method" and "crushing damage and energy consumption of ore and rock beds" both won the second prize of scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Metallurgy, and "controlled blasting of high-rise buildings in explosive factories" won the third prize of provincial scientific and technological progress and "valveless impactor". Participated in two books: Theoretical Basis and Computer Method of Impact Drilling and Database Course of DBASE-Ⅱ. Published 17 papers.
