Film portrait photography

Like other photography, correct exposure is an important part of ensuring quality. Different seasons, weather, facial orientation, background environment and color tone will all affect the exposure. To get the correct exposure of people's photography, we need to consider the following points:

1, grasp the exposure according to the season, weather and time.

The sunshine intensity is different in different seasons. In spring and autumn, taking the film speed of GB2 1 degree as an example, the correct exposure can be obtained by using the aperture f/1and the shutter speed1125 seconds. Under the same conditions, if shooting in summer, the aperture should be reduced by one file or the shutter speed should be accelerated by one file; In winter, you should open a larger aperture or slow down the shutter speed. In the same season, whether the weather is sunny or not directly affects the exposure. Generally, exposure in direct sunlight is the fastest, followed by thin clouds covering the sky, and exposure in cloudy days is the slowest. The exposure combination can be flexibly adjusted according to the specific weather conditions to obtain the correct exposure. Secondly, the brightness of sunlight is different at different times of the day. If the basic exposure is determined two hours after sunrise and two hours before sunset, and shooting at noon, it is necessary to narrow the aperture by one step or speed up the shutter speed. If you shoot in the morning and evening, you should appropriately increase the aperture or slow down the shutter speed.

2. Grasp the exposure according to the facial orientation of the subject.

The face orientation is different when shooting, so the light receiving angle and illumination area of the face are also different, so it is necessary to master different exposures. The light-receiving area of the face with side light level is about 50%, so it can be exposed in the light and dark parts in a compromise way, so that the light and dark parts can be taken into account and the layers can be displayed. The light-receiving area of the face in the backlight position is about 10-30%, and the exposure can be mastered according to the dark part, which better represents a large area of dark parts. The light-receiving area of the face with positive light position accounts for more than 70%, so you can master the exposure according to the bright part, so that the large-area light-receiving part can reflect the texture.

3. Grasp the exposure according to the background brightness

The exposure of different brightness backgrounds is different, which is the experience gained by professional portrait photography through practice. Light background, according to the brightness of the face, increase the half-tone exposure, otherwise the face details will be weak; For a dark background, reduce the exposure by half a step according to the brightness of the face to avoid the loss of layering due to overexposure of the face.

4. Grasp the exposure according to different adjustments.

For people with high posture, open the aperture according to the brightness of the face 1-2. This can improve the brightness of the white background and the subject's face, otherwise the face is gloomy and can't meet the high-profile requirements. Low-key person care reduces the half aperture according to the brightness of the face. In this way, the dark background of low-key photos and the brightness of the subject's face can meet the requirements of low-key, otherwise the low-key effect cannot be displayed.

5, figure photography master exposure photometry.

In figure photography, if you want to master the exposure by photometry, you should adopt the face approach method. If the aircraft position photometry method is used, the average brightness will be measured, which will be affected by sensitive factors such as background and environment, making the photometry inaccurate and unable to master the correct exposure. In photography practice, cameras with automatic exposure or internal photometry often have deep background, overexposure or bright background and underexposure, which is caused by average photometry. Therefore, shooting can be supplemented by manual adjustment, such as using GB.

2 1 degree film can be set to GB 24 degree film speed in deep background; On the white background, it can be set at the film speed position of GB 18 degrees. So that the exposure error can be compensated.

In addition, in black and white photography, exposure should be mastered and development conditions should also be considered. Normal development can be exposed according to the standard. If particle development is to be carried out, the exposure should be appropriately increased according to the developer formula.
