The position of the main light determines the basic purpose and effect of lighting, but the light effect is different in visual texture, which is generally called "soft" and "hard". "Soft" means soft light and "hard" means concentrated light. Beginners learn lights, soft light is easy to use and has good effect. So you can install a soft light device on this lamp, such as a soft light box or a reflective umbrella.

There is only one main light in the all-black studio, so there are obvious shadows and projections on the wrinkled background of the main body and the places where the edges of objects are not illuminated by the main light (the depth and edge clarity of these shadows are determined by the hardness of the main light).

If you want to reduce the blackness of these shadows, you can add a second light, which is the auxiliary light. Because each lamp will bring its own new shadow, the auxiliary lights are generally placed near the camera, so the shadow generated by such angle lighting is the smallest, and the softer the auxiliary light, the better. Therefore, in actual shooting, many auxiliary lights are actually acted by large reflectors, which is only the most basic application method of reflectors.
