1. Foreword
It has been nearly a year since the establishment of this Propaganda Department. It is the concerted efforts of everyone that has led to our development. Here, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about my experience in charge of the department since I took office, the status of the department, my personal and department officers’ feelings about the Propaganda Department, and my views, opinions and suggestions on the future development of the Propaganda Department.
2. Management experience of the Propaganda Department
To be honest, I was not fully prepared when I first entered the Seventh Youth League Committee. When Teacher Liu suddenly asked me to take charge of the management When I was in the Propaganda Department, I didn’t even know the staff in the department, which led to a period of embarrassment when I started working. It was also during this time that I was thinking about the management methods and construction direction of this department.
Because I did not get any experience and help from the previous Propaganda Department, I originally wanted to copy the organization and management methods of the Propaganda Department of Xingzhi Academy, but after repeated thinking, I gave up because the work of these two The nature and purpose to be achieved and the surrounding environment are fundamentally different.
The first problem I have to solve is the organizational structure of the department. An efficient team should have a compact structure, clear division of labor and close cooperation. So I considered dividing the department into three groups: blackboard group, notification group, and manuscript group. The responsibilities of the blackboard newspaper group are to publicize large-scale activities of the college and the work of the party, government and league through windows, display boards, and posters; the responsibilities of the notification group are to handle meeting notices of various departments and disclose the daily work of the league, such as bed check results, Study style inspector, etc.; the responsibility of the writing team is to use the school’s radio, newspapers, Internet and other media to promote the School of Electrical Engineering, and is also responsible for organizing department documents.
The reason why I did not adopt the parallel grouping method of the previous Propaganda Department was to prevent each group from shirking responsibility.
The next thing I considered was department personnel. Recruiting new people is really a helpless move for me. During the first department meeting, I was deeply irritated by the laziness, irresponsibility, and lack of discipline of the officers. So I decided to start over, which would give everyone a two-way choice. The most important thing in personnel matters is the selection of team leaders. Responsibility is the most important, and then ability. After the team leaders are selected, I will assign all the officers in the department to each group according to their personal strengths and abilities and according to the nature of the work of each group. . When everything was ready and work could begin normally, my sleepless nights for nearly half a month finally ended. Every team leader is very responsible and all the officers are very studious.
So the focus of my work at this time was on formulating the discipline, working principles and methods of the department. The purpose is for the entire department to develop a set of norms and procedures. This work continued until the beginning of the second semester, which was April this year. Because in addition to departmental discipline, everything else needs to be constantly explored and improved at work.
3. The work of the Propaganda Department
In general, the overall spirit of the department is very good. Everyone is diligent and can complete tasks seriously. The relationship between each other is very harmonious. Once working, they all smile and cooperate with each other. But there are still many places where we have not done enough. Hardworking but lacking in innovation. Once you form a fixed routine, you don’t want to make any breakthroughs. For example, in the blackboard newspaper group, they learned one or two drawing methods and artistic calligraphy and used them repeatedly without any desire to learn more skills; in the notification group, they were limited to completing the prescribed tasks each time, and no one thought about using such things provided by the college. It is a good opportunity to improve one's calligraphy level; for example, in the manuscript team, the work always waits until the task is assigned before starting. Usually, I don't pay much attention to the surrounding or international and domestic news, and take the initiative to write manuscripts, because publicity needs to be timely and fast, and it will be lost if it expires. If you have to wait until the task is released, it will probably expire. Everyone is not aware of the need to improve personal writing skills. The Propaganda Department is a department with complex tasks. There are things to do almost every day. It is understandable that the department will not feel bored. As long as the minister and team leader can practice it personally and experience it personally, this kind of emotion will soon pass. Everyone can devote themselves wholeheartedly to their work. However, there are some officers who think that they are sophomores or that they are very capable, and use various excuses to shirk their tasks. This kind of bad behavior of a very small number of people is very likely to trigger a chain reaction within the department. From my personal experience, this This situation did happen (such as in the Xingzhi Propaganda Department in the first semester of freshman year). The work of the Propaganda Department cannot be completed only by the minister or a few team leaders and key officers, unless these are supermen, so everyone in the department must be involved and no bad behavior can be indulged.
Since the establishment of this Youth League Association, the Propaganda Department has participated in almost all activities carried out by the college, from the initial posters and exhibition boards to the later results display and media publicity, such as Girls' Day, basketball games, Graduation party etc. At the same time, the department also independently carries out or represents the college to participate in activities held by the school, such as the selection of "Electric Star", the calligraphy, painting, paper-cutting and photography competition to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March, the "My Sunshine Mind" calligraphy poster display competition, etc. Especially in commemoration of the Long March, our department won an individual first prize.
By participating in various activities, our department has been trained. The quality of posters and exhibition boards has improved compared with before, and the efficiency has also improved. But it also exposed many problems. The poster maintenance work is not enough. The posters that the department spent a night or two working hard to put out sometimes disappear at noon, and they are even vandalized within ten minutes of being put up. Not to mention published sleep check results or public criticism of certain bad behaviors. Also, when participating in school activities, such as the "My Sunny Mind" competition, our department spent a whole week preparing for it, and even reworked it many times to achieve quality. When submitting the work, I and my department colleagues The director who went there also made a horizontal comparison of the works of other colleges. Our college should be considered superior in terms of quality, but the results were very disappointing. The reasons for this are worthy of consideration by the department.
In addition to participating in activities, the Propaganda Department has routine tasks. The promotional windows of the School of Electrical Engineering are basically changed every month. In order to improve the quantity and quality of our hospital's publicity manuscripts, at the end of March this year, our department established a communications group specifically responsible for writing press releases, broadcast manuscripts, and literary manuscripts. The correspondents are composed of people recommended by the freshman and sophomore classes, and the team leader is still the team leader of the writing team. After the correspondent team was established, the number of manuscripts in our institute has indeed increased a lot, but problems have also arisen. The number of manuscripts has increased, but the quality has not, and the acceptance rate is still very low. I summarize the reasons as follows: 1. Insufficient training for correspondents. Although teachers from the Propaganda Department of the school party committee were invited to give lectures when it was first established, I think this is far from enough. 2. The management of correspondents is not strong. Since the establishment of the correspondence group, due to the college’s restriction on department membership, correspondents have not been included in the official list of officials of the Propaganda Department. They have not been allowed to participate in daily meetings, resulting in a weak sense of ownership among them. 3. The correspondent’s own requirements are not strict. He did not take the Propaganda Department seriously, and his manuscripts were scrawled. Sometimes he had to call people one by one to urge them to submit manuscripts. Plagiarism was serious, and the articles were not reworked. Although it was promised to the correspondents that each person could add a comprehensive test score, the results were minimal and the enthusiasm was not high.
IV. My personal and departmental officers’ thoughts on the Propaganda Department
I know that at the beginning of the establishment of the Propaganda Department, Secretary He of the Party General Branch and Mr. Wang Fei, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, had great feelings for me and this department. The current department has high hopes, hoping to change the situation of insufficient publicity by the previous Propaganda Department. What I want to say is that the success of the Propaganda Department can never be achieved by just one person. It requires the unremitting efforts of a team, and not just one term, but two or even more terms to achieve it. What I am doing and trying to do now is to give the department a culture and an atmosphere, so that everyone can truly feel that the Propaganda Department is a family and can be relied on. Everyone is a brother and sister who can be trusted. At the same time, a complete set of working procedures is formed. This procedure is effective and can prevent many problems in the department. Then I will give you a direction on how the Propaganda Department will develop in the future.
The suggestions given by some officers are also listed below: 1. Since you have chosen this job, you must love it. As the saying goes, do what you do, love what you do, and do your best if you do it. 2. Although the Propaganda Department is small, it affects the face of the college and the department. It controls the mouthpiece of the college. It is like makeup and cannot be graffiti. 3. Cultivate your own interest in work. I feel unmotivated if I can't do anything, and feel that tasks are a burden. The scariest thing is the “result” crap, that is, the poor quality of the work done. 4. You can study and refer to the professional books in the library and various advertising posters. 5. Actions speak louder than words. Practice one stroke of calligraphy every day, write an article every day, read more newspapers, and capture the things around you with a keen eye.
5. My views and suggestions for the future of the Propaganda Department
I hope that the department can set up a special outreach group to provide certain funds for the Propaganda Department to reward outstanding department officials , improve their enthusiasm. At the same time, the team of correspondents was reduced and capable personnel were selected and included in the list of officers of the Propaganda Department. The department purchases professional books to improve the quality of its personnel. The Propaganda Department must have inheritance. This Propaganda Department has many good practices, and the next one must continue to retain and improve them.
What I am most proud of in the Propaganda Department is that the department officers are all lovely. I hope they can bring this spirit to the next term. Maybe this department has not met the college's expectations for the Propaganda Department, but I want to say that all the officers in the Propaganda Department work hard and work hard for the college's publicity work, which makes me touched.
