The school is a public higher art vocational college approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). The predecessor of the College is Henan Art School, Henan Film and Television School and Henan Cultural Cadre School, which were founded in 1956 respectively. 20 1 1 In May, the Henan Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government integrated the resources of Henan Vocational College of Art, Radio, Film and Television (Zhengzhou Radio and Television School) of Zhongyuan University of Technology to prepare for the establishment of Zhongyuan Culture and Art College. Since the renaming of Zhongyuan Culture and Art College needs the approval of the Ministry of Education, the name of Henan Vocational College of Art was temporarily used after the merger of the two schools.
