How to take good photos in bad weather

When shooting the scenery, most of the film friends expect sunny days and white clouds, and some people will stop shooting in rainy days. So how do you take good photos in bad weather? Let's study together!

1。 rain

In fact, there are many things that can be photographed in rainy days. As long as you think a little, you can show the obscurity and particularity of rainy days. The following are several classic scenes, which students who lack inspiration recently can refer to:

Shooting people or buildings with reflections in roadside water: The roadside water can be regarded as a necessary theme in rainy days, but the composition of this scene is difficult to master. Especially when it comes to combining with characters, good opportunities are always fleeting. In this case, waiting may be the best choice.

Combine umbrellas with people and street scenes: umbrellas are important props to decorate rainy scenes, so it is best to find a high place to shoot such scenes. Because all kinds of umbrellas can easily make the picture look messy, aerial photography can not only avoid the interference of umbrellas on the picture, but also take some interesting pictures with different umbrella surfaces if you are lucky.

Using macro to shoot water droplets: Although water droplets are not a patent for rainy days, whether it is intermittent raindrops or crumbling raindrops on plants, they can be a good picture. If you want to highlight water droplets, a macro lens comes in handy. After the composition and light are adjusted, it is recommended to shoot with a larger aperture.

Rain on the glass: Water drops or water currents on the glass window can show the weather characteristics at this time, and this kind of shooting theme is relatively not too difficult. But we need to remind everyone that if the indoor environment is brighter than the outdoor environment, we should pay attention to whether there is reflection in the picture.

These are just a few representative scenes taken in rainy days. Each subject has its own characteristics, and this kind of weather leaves a lot of room for photographers to play freely. As long as you dare to think, take out your camera and take pictures.

2。 snow

In photography technology, we should pay attention to white balance and exposure compensation when shooting snow scenes. First, white balance. The white balance of a camera is a complicated parameter. If the photo format used is RAW format, you can actually not care too much about the setting of white balance, and you can adjust the white balance parameters at will later. But JPEG format is different. If you don't adjust the white balance when shooting, it will be difficult to repair it later. Then why list the white balance? Shooting snow scenes in actual combat can help you quickly understand white balance, which is also one of the ways to improve photography technology.

There are generally two kinds of white balance to choose from when shooting snow scenes, daylight white balance and automatic white balance. The color temperature value of sunshine white balance is about 5500K, and the photos taken are relatively cold, which can highlight the cold atmosphere. Automatic white balance is the value given by the camera according to the current environment. Under normal circumstances, the color of photos taken by automatic white balance in snowy days is warmer. If you like this warm color, you might as well try it.

Next, talk about exposure compensation. Look at the previous photos. Did you find anything? Is the snow gray? If it weren't for the weather, there must be something wrong with the exposure compensation. By default, everything in the camera's metering system is gray, to be exact, it is standard 18% gray, which is why the concept of exposure compensation is introduced. Because the snow is very white, if the exposure compensation is not increased, the default metering result of the camera will be very dark. Only by increasing exposure compensation can we get the correct exposure, which is commonly called "white plus black minus". Remember the principle that "the whiter the more, the darker the less".

3。 wind

The wind itself is invisible, but it can bring tangible rhythm. At this time, we can take some long-exposure photos under such weather conditions. Long-term exposure requires a tripod and a filter, but it is very important to pay attention to whether the tripod is stable in windy weather, which is very important for equipment safety.

Under the condition of normal shooting, long exposure can shoot dynamic clouds, rhythmic leaves and some abstract pictures. At this time, a subtractive mirror (ND mirror) is needed. Before shooting, measure the environment first, and then choose a subtractive mirror with a suitable gear. Generally speaking, as long as you strengthen your practice, there will always be satisfactory works.

4。 fog

Finally, this difficult topic. In fact, it is difficult to grasp because the formation of fog requires certain climatic conditions and has a great relationship with regional differences. Especially in recent years, urban environmental pollution has become more and more serious. With the emergence of the word "smog", fog has been forgotten by people, and some people even can't tell fog from haze. But in fact, the fog scene can well show the strange environmental atmosphere, just need the photographer to have a certain foundation.

When shooting in foggy days, we should pay attention to the composition and the choice of timing and location. Generally speaking, fog is easy to form in spring, and the best shooting position at this time is a high observation deck or commanding heights. Combining beautiful scenery with hazy feeling is the most common way to express fog. In addition, if the photographer is in the fog, he can choose to take pictures with minimalist style, or he can use some regular lines for composition. Finally, I would like to remind you that fog can easily make the picture ugly. You can observe the terrain in advance before shooting so as to arrange the shooting reasonably.

Finally, remind everyone to protect your equipment. The above four shooting environments all belong to the category of "bad weather". In this special weather, the camera with three-proof function should be the first choice. If not, add a rain cover to the love machine. Try not to expose the camera to rain and snow for a long time, which will cause certain losses to the camera itself. So we must pay attention to protecting the equipment.
