It belongs to the dual leadership of Xinhua News Agency and National Archives Bureau. The museum is located on the west side of Xuanwu Gate in Beijing. The museum extensively collects all kinds of photos with preservation and utilization value at home and abroad, arranges and keeps photo files, conducts research on the management theory and protection technology of photo files, analyzes and appraises the contents, time and authenticity of the collected files, and provides them for use, serving news reports, historical research and various national undertakings. In addition, it also cooperates with relevant units to edit and publish photo albums of various themes and figures. By the end of 1990, there were nearly1400,000 original negatives and nearly 800,000 duplicate negatives in the photo archives. It covers a wide range of contents, including photo archives of various historical periods from the late Qing Dynasty to the founding of the People's Republic of China. Among them are photos reflecting the court life of the late Qing rulers such as Cixi, Guangxu and Puyi. There are photos recording the activities of the Revolution of 1911, the May 4th Movement and its main leaders, such as Sun Yat-sen and Li Dazhao. There are photos of China people's new-democratic revolutionary struggle led by China's * * * production party, especially photos of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the liberation war; There are abundant photos recording the people's socialist revolution and construction in China after the founding of New China, such as the life activities of major party and state leaders such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi and Zhu De, social activities of leaders of democratic parties and celebrities in political, military, economic, cultural, educational and scientific circles, and photos of important national conferences convened by the party and state, including China 1945. In addition, the museum also collects photos of China's scenic spots and historical sites, famous mountains and rivers, rare birds and animals, and rare plants, as well as a large number of international photo files and materials. The museum has offices, editing rooms, photo reference rooms, film archive rooms, technical departments, reading rooms, photo supply rooms and other institutions. There are 54 employees, including 2 senior technical titles and 9 intermediate technical titles.
